One of the better beer spots to hit up in KC if you want a great selection and lax atmosphere around happy hour. The rotating taps are pretty decent, but the "cellar" always has some outstanding, very difficult to find bottles. Now, are you willing to swallow the $28 price tag that comes with them is another thing (but still cheaper than the Beer Kitchen across the street on their rare stuff). Always a great place for beer events as well. You can also get a good deal on the Mccoy's beers next door (the brew pub that I believe owns The Foundry).
The food is decent for pub food. Haven't had the pizzas yet, but the burgers are fair. Don't expect to be blown away with the food quality though. The deserts are quite delicious though.
Atmosphere can really vary depending on when you stop by. If you are looking for chilled, laid back setting, I suggest going before 9 on the weekends. Any later than that, they try to turn this great beer stop into a club by removing the tables, blaring the music, and setting up the dance floor. So, if standing sandwiched in a crowd crotch-to-ass and attempting (and failing miserably) to scream over the music to the bartender to order your beer sounds good to you, then I suggest showing up around midnight on Fri/Sat.
