This brew appears very pale to the eye and shows big bubbles of carbon dioxide steadily rising with a lot of lace left an the glass.

The smell is spicy and a little dry or biscuity, with the sweeter side of the malt also showing clearly. A few clever fruity notes (lemon, white grape) co-operate with a soft hoppy touch.

A very clean taste, with sweet malt and herbal hoppy flavours being main factors. The finish is rather dry and slightly bitter, but with enough mouth-watering sweetness remaining as well. There is a kind of 'juicyness' to the taste that gives this beer its weight and contributes positively to its mouthfeel.

A very elemental beer, very pure and enjoyable! Probably the fresher the better. (715 characters)

Had this Helles beer in the Schneider Weiss bar in Munich (the only beer they sell that is not their own) and also noticed a lot of local older guys drank this as their regular beer on several evening visits, so thought I ought to try it. I was pleasantly surprised, it has a decent aroma, maybe more malts than hops, and grassy hints as most Helles have. Taste is light and refreshing, but decent texture, and a hint of sweetness, with a dry hoppy finish, less "acid" than some Helles of Munich and I enjoyed it a lot.

So, I was rather surprised by the other reviews in here as I though it a decent Helles beer, and preferable to some of the Munich beers, with more character and aftertaste than some.

I cannot comment of how it is in bottle, but certainly on tap had in Munich I though it was a decent drink and had it several times during my week stay. Worth trying in these circumstances!

This is easily my favorite lager in the world. I absolutely love the light refreshing taste. This is the perfect beer for a hot summer day. The color is clear and light, and the taste is slightly sweet. I really wish this beer were available outside of Germany. If I had to pick only one beer to drink for the rest of my life, this would be it. (344 characters)

Picked up during a recent short trip to Germany.
0.5 l bottle.

Looks clear pale, one shade darker than straw yellow, I would say. Thin head, low carbonation.
Smell is rather pleasant, fresh of floral hops.
Taste is very mild bitter of the hops. Clean and soft malty, some citrus.
Mouthfeel is thin, but the whole drinking experience is very nice. It's quenches the thirst very well.

One of the better lagers I've had. I'm glad I tried this one. (446 characters)

Tegernseer Hell has a thick, foamy, white head, lots of heavy lacing left on the glass, and a yellow-straw appearance, with bountiful white specks suspended throughout. Some lazy bubble action, too. The aroma is subtle, but the drinker will detect sweet, white cracker from the barley malt and a kiss of hop grassiness. Taste is similar and mild. Mouthfeel is light, and Tegernseer Hell finishes crisp and refreshing. It is more similar than dissimilar to American lagers.

500ml bottle

A- Perfectly transaprent gold. A small, soft looking white head disappears in the span of a couple of seconds. No lacing can be noticed

S- Very pilsner like with noble hops in evidence (floral, lemon, slightly metallic/mineral. A bit of background grainy maltiness. Quite weak

T- Clean and simple grainy malts, along with that mineral touch that i noticed in the aroma (probably from the water). Lively crisp on the palate, notes of lemon and light spicy hints on the tongue. Quite bitter (for the style)

M- The best part. Light to medium bodied, with delicate but very lively carbonation, resulting in a nice soft/crips combination. Dry refreshing finish

O- Clean and drinkable, but not really interesting. Average Helles (740 characters)

Tegernseer Hell pours a well perfected appearance: mounds of bright white head, and a perfectly clear golden body.

This smells very clean with lemony hops and a malty backbone is slightly detectable.

The taste is also exceptionally clean. The lemony hops are there right up front, and finishes with a mellow biscuity sweetness.

This feels pretty wet on the palate, and eventually has a dry finish.

Overall this is one of the best helles' I've had in a while. Tegernseer Hell surpasses even some of the more notorious offerings off German Helles Lagers. (556 characters)

1/2 liter bottle from my local Getrankemarkt.

Light colored lager with normal 1" head in my glass. Taste was wonderful. Very smooth, malty, and low in hops; almost buttery.

Highly recommended Helles Lager!

If you're in Germany, look for this at any good Getrankemarkt.
