Hazed amber with one finger of cream color head. Rings of lace appear as the head drops.
Resinous hop aroma and bread crust malts.
Taste is bitter hop oils with strong malt support.
Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Finish is lightly dry and somewhat bitter.
Overall a tasty West Coast IPA without the fruit flavors!

i dont mind a maltier ipa like this, but i feel like they almost need to tell you its going to be like that on the menu, tap handle, packaging, something, like, let the future drinker know this is red in color, old school styled, and balanced in a way thats right out of the 90s. crystal malt abounds here, a kilned warmth and nutty property to it, brick red from the tap, not what i expect an ipa to look and smell like in this day and age, but all the grain is fresh, the hops are still there up front, and the beer is well made, just kind of a curious and seemingly dated recipe. my first beer from these guys, tastes like it could have been designed 20 years ago. the hops have a little sweet orange note to them that works well with the bigger grain profile, and there is a classic higher alpha northwestern sort of piney resinous bitterness later on that helps keep it in the ipa realm. i am thankful for the freshness, and i like how hearty it is, seems like a nice hoppy beer for a chilly october afternoon. not overly unique or anything, and decidedly malty, but a tasty glass of beer here, enough to have me keen to try some more from these guys. off trend for sure, but im okay with that.

A very dark color for an IPA, a rich maple syrup shade of amber. Light head, not too much on the nose. Taste is almost malt-forward, slightly sweet. The hops come in a shade later. Modest ABV. It's very drinkable, but is a bit heavy. It would not take too mich to shift this over to,red ale territory.

REALLY dark (as dark as an amber) fine creamy - but short-lived - head
Not a lot of hop in this beer (aroma or taste) for an IPA but very nice velvety mouthfeel. In a blind test most would not guess it’s an IPA
Overall an unexpected and yet pleasant beer. Finished one and right into the next

Dark orangey amber brew with an abundance of foam in the tumbler. Unusual aromatics that are almost perfumey, plus cedar. Pleasant sweet orange note to the malty base. Bitter and a little astringent in the aftertaste with a touch of grapefruit.

Overall this is an interesting malt-heavy but hoppy brew. It's kind of a hybrid but highly drinkable. From the 12 oz can packaged on 06/14/17 and purchased at Whidbey Beer Works in Oak Harbor, Wash.

12oz can purchased at Rocket Market on Spokane's South Hill for something under $2. According to the stamp on the bottom of the can, this was canned on 4/19/17. Not ideal, but not disqualifying old for a PNW IPA.

Poured into a Budge Bros. (RIP) shaker pint glass, this was a darker shade of amber than I expected, only looking a normal color for the style when held up to light. Rather hazy, with a good sized, beige colored head that left "beer neglige " type lace.

Nose of bitter, grapefruity hops that all start with C, plus a bready malt backbone that is more upfront than what is standard for a PNW IPA.

The hops are in the lead, but only barely. The malts are damn near an equal partner here. Almost like an English IPA, but with more citrusy hops than is generally the norm. Slightly dry, herbal finish.

Medium bodied, with a slightly oily mouthfeel.

An okay PNW IPA, but too malty to really satisfy when hankering for such a style of beer. Maybe it is, indeed, too old, but it doesn't really taste like that. If I encounter a fresher example that makes clear this was past it's prime, I'll alter the score, but it's average score here indicates that might not be the problem.

Beautifully crafted IPA, orange/amber in color with very small, but creamy head.. Combination of malt and hops blend well for an overall smooth experience, nice mild bitterness on the finish. Very easy to drink ale.

Pours a deep Amber/orange with minimal head that's gone as quick as it appears. Smells is of pine resin. Tastes of sweet candy malt with a piney resin and light light citrus (lemon and grapefruit) in the background. Mouthfeel is wetter and heavier than I would have expected and it finishes somewhat wet. It's good not great.
