On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,

A: Pours a medium amber/red with a soft white head, nice lace.

S: Maple, strong malt character.

T: Caramel, butterscotch candy, it tastes really good. The most direct butterscotch flavour I've ever experienced in a beer. Mild hop character, but the malt is the star in this ale.

M: Medium-bodied, smooth and slick, a bit sugary but never cloying.

D: As with the other Uncommon beers I've had - very interesting. I'm always up for trying their stuff because I know it's going to be something unique. (528 characters)

On tap at 515 in Santa Cruz. Sample-size glass as part of a flight. Deep clear amber color without much head other than a smattering of tan bubbles. Aroma is so similar to maple syrup that it's kind of awe-striking that such a note could come from a mushroom. Very perfumey and sweet, reminiscent of pancakes smothered in syrup. Flavor is also very sweet, and would make this hard to drink a whole pint of (or a 16 oz can). Maple syrup/brown sugar at the fore, with a hint of berries and sweet malts. Has enough body to justify the sweetness, and enough carbonation to temper it. Another nice Uncommon beer. (607 characters)
