Brilliant copper with a frothy one inch cream head that's dense and lingers.

Resin, floral hops, mango, nectarine, and pine form the initial aroma. There's a solid caramel malt sweetness present.

Flavor tarts things up a bit, with underpinnings of grapefruit, lime, and tart orange preceding a deep caramel malt, bready backbone, finishing resiny and fairly bitter.

Body is a tad light, with moderate carbonation and a touch of alcohol warmth.

Good balance of flavoring and bittering hops, with enough malt to balance, as well. Not the most complex, but a solid ipa. Could use a bit more body.

I love an old shcool left coast IPA and this fits the bill perfectly.Poured one and a half bottles into an imperial nonic a burnt orange color with a nice tight one finger white head atop.Aromas of pine resin and citrusy hops over top of a sweetish doughy caramel malt base, just like it should be in my opinion.Flavors of big pine resin and grapefruit rind with a bit of herb to go along with a caramel malt base wich is almost as big as the hops.I love the old school IPA's and this is something I could drink all night, wich I likely will.

A: This pour an orange tinted medium amber with excellent clarity. The off-white head of rocky bubbles is not persistent and settles to a thin film on top rather quickly.

S: A moderately-high citrus and piney hop aroma that smell kind of flat from age. A clean malt sweetness and a light orange and peach ester with a soft alcohol aroma. No diacetyl.

T: A malt sweetness with a touch of caramel dominate flavor slight over the moderately-high bitterness and strong piney and resinous hops flavors. The balance slightly favors the bitterness but the malt is more prominent than the typical American IPA. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering slight rough bitterness. Some soft alcohol sweetness is noted.

M: Moderate bodied with a moderate carbonation. There is a a light alcohol warmth and some hop derived astringency.

O: A pretty good example of the style, I think a younger bottle might have a more pronounced hop flavor and aroma but eve if it doesn't I'd still be happy to bump into this every once and a while.

A: Pours from draft orange to amber with a one
finger head that showed little stamina.

S: Piney, floral, alcohol, etc etc it's an IPA

T: Not as overpowering as many an American IPA
but none the less showing no shortage of
hops hops hops.

M: This is an easy drinker with good body and
a no film left behind policy.

D: A very drinkable American IPA that won't kill
you with ABV while possessing the all other
qualities of a well crafted AIPA.

A decent IPA that drinks well at 6.7 abv.

The cute hummingbird draws you in and the decent head retention is good enough to pass for a decent appearance.

It tastes bitter, but not overly so, and sweet enough to give legitimacy to that hummingbird. I don't think I'll drink it again though, just because of the underwhelming overall feel and ordinariness of this IPA.

In a pint glass this beer was an amber color with a thick off-white head. The head retained well and left a fair amount of lace.

Aroma of citrus and piney hops. Peppery on the nose. Some sweet malt.

Grapefruit and piney hops. Sweet malt. The taste was a little toned down compared to the aroma.

Mouthfeel was thin and on the oily side.

An OK beer, not grest

Poured into a pint from a 12 oz. glass.

A hazy reddish-amber color with a creamy, off-white head that quickly disspates to some lingering lacing.

Very nice aroma of citrus, candied tropical fruit,a little grassiness and some sweet malt.

The taste is not quite as good as the smell, but not bad. I get a quick resinous hop bite, then a little candied fruit sweetness and a lingering spicy finish. The is a lasting bitter dryness.

Mouthfeel is decent, a little creamy maybe? And a little sticky.

Overall, a decent IPA.

Pours a nice light amber brown with half an inch of cream colored head that faded into wisps, a medium collar and very good lacing. Aroma is toasty/bready malt, with faint pint and citrus hops. Taste is appropriately bitter, with the bready malt taking main stage. There's some earthy and piney hops behind the big malt presence. Nice bitter bite on the tongue, medium body and med-high carbonation.

12 ounce bottle pours a hazy orange golden body with a medium sized beige head that sticks around several minutes and leaves some collar lacing.

Aroma is citrusy and floral, with apricots and pink grapefruit and a hint of orange blossom. Some toasted caramel underneath.

Medium body has a smooth carbonation.

Taste is well balanced, but on the candied apricot side of the scale. Grapefruit hops bitter out things pretty well but some honeyed caramel malt keeps pushing some sweetness. A hint of bitter grassiness underneath saves the balance. Finishes smooth and even.

If you like your IPAs to have a tropical fruit sweet component to dominate the bitter dryness you will like this one. I did.

On tap at Imbibe. Pours a golden amber with a short head that leaves some nice lace behind. The smell is floral with a lot of citrus notes. The taste is not too hoppy with only a slightly bitter finish. It's a light to medium bodied beer that is very drinkable.

I bought this as a single at Union Jack's on the Manatawny. I drank it in a pilsner glass. Date is clearly stamped on the label. YAY!

Pours an almost clear light reddish copper with a two finger head of cream colored foam. The head drops to islands and a ring, with pieces of lacing on the glass. Carbonation looks average.

Aroma is strong grassy/citrusy hops, very clean, with a deep biscuity caramel malt background. Smells inviting.

The first flavor is caramel and biscuity malt sweetness, followed by big, but not too big, hop bitterness. Notes of hay, pine, and lemons all blend together nicely. A well balanced IPA. Aftertaste is citrusy hops and malt sweetness.

Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, with just a touch of carbonation. There is a pretty good grab at the back of the throat from hop bitterness. Finish is semi-sweet and bitter.

This is a real good IPA. It's well balanced, with hops and malt complimenting each other nicely. It's not overdone in any way. It's an all day slammer!

The one I had was from Humboldt, with the same label. I don't know why the brewer has changed omn this site, but okay. Amber with a nice bubbly head. Sweet floral aroma with some citrus. Sticky sweet taste with a good grapefruit/orange hop bite. Lots of caramel malt, but a decent balance. Long grapefruit finish.

12oz bottle, fridge temp, pint glass. bottled on 10/17/11 (2 1/2 months?). listed as 6.7% ABV on the bottle.

a nice deep golden color, some orange when the light hits it just right. small head off the pour, but very retentive with some thick lacing. the slightest haze, pretty much clear.

nice west coast aroma. citrus being at the forefront, grapefruit and orange like. floral and piney as well. slightly woody as it warms. just a hint of malt.

citrus turns into a piney then floral, woody hop taste. some light bready malts noticable. a nice dry lingering bitterness in the finish.

light to medium bodied, highly carbonated, makes for a refreshing beer. the more i drank this beer i got a slight tartness in the aftertaste.

pretty basic IPA, but very well done. true to style.

Amber in color with a very light-brown creamy foam. Immediately the lack of soapy character in the foam gives away the hint that this may be lighter on the hops and a little heavier on malt. Let's sniff and taste.

Immediately I think of nuts, walnut and hazelnut to be specific , which is nicely buffered by caramel and hops. The hops have a little more subdued role in this beer. Not so much of the citrus character of a west coast IPA but rather it blends with the malts and grain components and doesn't stand out as much. Nose is pleasantly rich yet light and satisfying.

Smooth and tasty, not so much bittering upfront but rather towards the mid-palate and finish. It leaves an astringent mark on the tongue at the end which makes this a nice beer to pair with food rather than as a dessert (I drink beer for appetizer, main course and dessert...I admit)

A very nice style, lighter on hops and a tad light on complexity but still a very nice brew.

A citrus orangey copper appearance. Soapy look. Sticky lace. Sweet aroma, but not the ooomph of hop aroma.

Taste a little hoppier, less sweetness. Substantial malt bill. Not super roasted by any means though. Quickly fades, as you're wondering if it just got more drinkable, or if it just thinned out rapidly. A little bit more expensive than some better choices for the money. More balanced than many CA ipas you'll come across. Not as traditional as Mendocino, but close.
