I received an extra of this in a recent trade courtesy of EinWeizenbitte. Thanks a lot man!

Pours a clear golden orange/amber color with some pale golden yellowish orange hues when held to a light source. One finger light yellowish head with decent retention, slowly fading to a lasting ring.

Uber-fresh floral oily hop aroma with a lot of citrus character as well as some subtle pine. Hints of mango, grapefruit, lemon and orange peel. Slight malt presence with hints of caramel, biscuit and graham cracker.

Dry resinous medium body with lots of incredibly fresh floral hops complimented by a subtle malt backbone and a nice dry finish. The hops are incredibly juicy, bursting with a lot of complex flavors. Lots of sweet fruit and citrus notes. Hints of lemon and orange peel, mango, grapefruit and pineapple with amount of dry pine presence to balance out the sweetness. The bitterness lingers throughout over the subtle caramel, biscuity graham cracker malt backbone into a long dry finish. No detectable alcohol heat and excellent balance make this beer incredibly quaffable.

12 oz. bottle into a chalice

(Great color!) Pours a bright, copper-rust hue with a thin, fleeting, off-white head. However, I see very little carbonation and there are no remnants of lacing. The aroma improves my initial impression: sweet, candy-caramel malts, floral hops, vanilla, banana and toffee. "Nectar Ale", indeed.

Bittering hops hit the tastebuds first, followed by notes of grapefruit, sweet biscuity malts, and more hops (mostly the floral variety). The flavor is really solid in this beer, and it maintains its presence throughout. The mouthfeel was apparently hiding the carbonation level I so desperately sought in the appearance, and it's spot on. Perfectly crisp body, medium thickness, and a lingering hoppy bite. All in all, this is a very good IPA. The bitterness is a bit too much for me to imagine having Nectar Ales as a daily staple, but it's definitely a beer I'll be looking out for in the future.

Thanks to tevering99 for the trade.

Pours damn near perfect--dark, rosiny red with a giant off-orange head that sticks around.

Smells of big, piney east coast hops. Strong, but not too bitter. Very good, but a little more complexity might have helped push the scent up a notch.

The taste starts with a perfect syrupy malt against a wonderful hop blend. Here's the complexity! A big blend of west coast hops, with fresh, sticky, green cascades coming to the forefront, letting in more subtle nodes of fruit and leaves. The whole shebang ends with with a sweetly dry malt and an even sweeter kick of yeast.

Whew! Almost a perfect example of its style--perfectly balanced, superbly crafted.

I had off gravity cask at Muggs Tavern in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
A-- Nice clean redish brown, amber. Good foamy head and lacing.
S-- Nice sweet hoppy scent. Hint of honey.
T-- Pure, crisp hop taste. Just the way an IPA should taste. Slight spice with a nice sweet honey taste. Nice biting sour aftertaste. Very good stuff.

This lives up to it's name "nectar" with subtle aromas and flavors of honey and flowers with a medium long hoppy finish reminding you that it's an IPA. The color is a cloudy golden yellow with a nice long lasting head. Mouthfeel is bright at first and a little bitter in the end, more bitter the longer you leave it in your mouth. All in all, a nice floral IPA.

Appears a clear amber with a fluffy white head. Tons of scattered lacing stick boldly to the sides of the glass. Tiny bubbles come up to the top.
Smell is of hearty biscuits, sweet and bitter hops, and a creamy, warming aroma. Excellent!
Taste is of malty biscuits blended with a balanced hop resin that kicks much butt!
Mouthfeel is creamy with a balance of hop and malt. The only thing that is weird is the finish, which is slightly like wet cardboard.

Finger licking good.

Yum. A real good west coast IPA.

Intense hoppy aroma. A lot of sweet resiny and highly floral. Tangerine, grapefruit, flowers/purfume.

Again, in the taste there is massive fruity and floral hops.

Great silky mouthfeel and aftertaste. Bitterness is balanced by a floral fruity kick.

Just for some perspective, I consider this my house beer, I like to have a six pack of it around. It's good enough for beer snobs, but relatively cheap enough to share with people who don't care so much about beer.

It's a pretty average looking beer with an orange tinge to it. The head recedes pretty quickly. The strengths of this beer are the taste and the smell, which is a pungent citrus aroma that crawls up your nose. I always like to take a whiff from the bottle before pouring it into the glass, and then take another whiff. The taste is almost as good as the smell. There is just enough malt to provide a balanced contrast to the hops, allowing just a hint of sweetness before the hops take over and linger a little bit on your tongue. The mouthfeel is very nice and smooth going down. Overall this is a very drinkable beer.

The hop aroma is excellent for an American IPA, but it is not as bitter as an IPA should be, which I think is what I like about it. If your looking for an IPA with a with a wall of hop bitterness you should probably look somewhere else.

This is an extremely well balanced beer with a very nice flavor profile.

Honestly wasn't expecting much from this beer, but I was pleasantly surprised.

12 oz Bottle poured into a beer mug
Pours nicely into the glass
Intense fruity aroma
There's just the slightest bit of cloudiness to it
Strong Alcohol taste but not over powering, nice hop taste too...

definitely worth a try if you have not yet.

Poured into a pint glass. Bottled on date of 3-24-11.

Pours a nice and thin, Gold to light amber color. Transparent. Nice good thick head, stays around for about 2 minutes, 2 fingers in depth. A few bubbles rising from carbonation.Sweet a fruity. Amazing. I really like the aroma of this brew. Bittersweet fruits with a sugary punch. Hops are great with a small but balancing malt tone as well. Another amazing aspect of this brew. A really great brew all around. This is the first brew ive had from Nectar Ales but this is easily one of my favorite IPA's.

There's a biggish, fine, cream-colored head that leaves thin, sticky lacing. Rosy, orange/amber, clear liquid. Nice. The nose is bitter, fruity, hoppy with a bit of sugar. A super-hoppy front introduces a milky, sweet, darkish malty, full middle. The malt is almost chocolatey at temperature. A big, bitter finish shows a nice roastiness, too. This is just a really nice, fresh, juicy, Cali-IPA. Quite creamy at temperature. Great!

Had on tap at the Richmond Capital Ale House. It's one of the juicier IPAs I've had, looking orange, smelling like orange and apricot, and tasting like nice, gentle citrusy hops with an earthy finish and a medium body.

I like the fact that this is a BALANCED West Coast IPA--the hops are very tasty and fresh, but don't have the bitterness or the electricity of some of the bigger West Coast IPAs, making it a really good beer for someone who likes hops but doesn't need the sting of a true hop addict. I wish it were more widely available.

Presentation: a 12oz bottle plucked from a six-pack at Whole Foods in Pasadena (love how they let me do that!).
Appearance: clear dark amber color, nearly red with abundant carbonation stoking a large foamy off-white head. The head lasted through the entire beer, leaving sticky clumps behind.
Nose: Floral, fruity nose. Potent aromas of grapefruit rinds and, to a lesser degree, pine sap. Nearly hidden away was the smell of caramel and grassy malts.
Taste: fruity-sweet up front with a taste of orange and caramel. Some underlying biscuity malt present before the hops bitterness ramped up. The grapefruit peel and pine needle flavors build yet are not overwhelming. Nice balance.
Feel: medium/light body with an initial creaminess thanks to the carbonation. Tailed off mid-palate to a rather thin feel.
Overall: highly drinkable. Well balanced and had a good nose in keeping with the west coast IPA genre. I'd pick up a full sixer now that I've tried it and found it likeable.

Poured a deep orangish with a thinner frothy head than from the bottle version. Nose of hops, grapefruit , floral , and slight various grains Taste was floral, citrus and shoppy as Hell. It had a nice hop bite on the end to remind you that is a damn good IPA. I liked this IPA from the bottle, bet the tap tastes even better. This is how I like my IPAs-very hoppy, slightly bitter finish and smooth with citrus and floral throughout.
