Like sinking your teeth into the perfect blend of tropical and citrus fruit is what Lawson's Finest Triple Sunshine delivers. Its seamless medley has crawled straight out of a can of Hawaiian Punch, wrapped itself around a ten-plus percent core and seeps deeply into the tastebuds for an unabashed assault upon the palate.

Its bright, nearly canary straw color is laced with a milky cloud and topped with a tall, creamy and persistent froth. But hovering over the snifter overwhelms the palate with all things tropical, citrus and orchard fruit; somehow eluding any semblance to beer.

Its bright and tangy taste is both mouthwatering and drying at the same time. Its hop acidity latches onto the tastebuds with teeth-churning red grapefruit, mandarin, lemon, pineapple, mango and apricot. As the ale swirls beautifully on the mouth, its distant backdrop of malt is delicate of honey, faint caramel and confection- giving its vibrant hoppy fruit character a sense of being vine-ripe, bursting with plump juices.

Hiding its strength masterfully, the ale hasn't forgotten about its dry American IPA underpinning- intent on allowing the hop flavor, dryness and smooth bitterness to command the show. Its fleeting finish is tangy, playfully warm and leaves the mouth begging for more.

There was a great deal of hype surrounding this beer. Some even labeled it the greatest beer of all time. It even got me believing that this might be my first ever 5 out of 5 beer.

I was expecting something legendary, along the lines of a Double Sunshine on steroids, a beer that would truly be worth camping out overnight for or trading a whale to acquire.

What I got was a boozier Sip of Sunshine with a mouthfeel that resembled a dirtier, more raw consistency that I have come to expect from some of the top Tree House brews (not to say that this was a flaw, just uncharacteristic of a Lawson's product.)

It tastes maltier than Double Sunshine, with a more pronounced stone fruit presence in its flavor and just a touch of orange creamsicle (similar to Julius) in its layers. It was also far sweeter than I had expected.

Like most of Lawson's liquid preparations, this beer smells fantastic. This might have been the highlight.

Overall, this a very good beer, but not a life changer.

Is it the best TIPA I have ever had? No.

Does it live up the hype? No.

Is it better than Double Sunshine? No.

Is it worth trading a whale to procure? No.

This was a very difficult beer to get a hold of, and it brought out the ugly side of many people I know in the craft beer community. If you are considering a trade for this beer, do so with the understanding that there are better beers that you can get for far less than the king's random this bomber requires.

To me, Triple Sunshine is the kind of beer that you drink once to satisfy a curiosity, but not one to seek out again.

bomber into goblet glass. no packaged on date.

A: pours much too hazy. this bottle was sitting vertical for a while so I surprised at that. orange. foamy white head.

S: loads of citrus, but softer more orange like. mango too. maybe even a little minty? maybe some pine in there too.

T: hugely hoppy. there is a softer side of hops here. the flavor reminds me of a creamsicle. bitterness is moderate to low, very manageable. booze is practically nonexistent.

M: moderate amount of mouthfeel. full body.

D: another solid offering from Lawson's. flavorful and aromatic without being cloying or boozy. I really cant believe this is a 10% ABV beer. goes down like a hearty IPA. my biggest complaint is the appearance being so hazy which brought with it a little yeast bitterness bite. otherwise very well done.

This beer is very similar to Sip of Sunshine, but a more robust version. Hops are even more pronounced. Alcohol is well hidden which could make this dangerous in quantity. Excellent beer. As far as high octane IPAs go, In my opinion, you cannot get much better than this. Great job Lawson's. I wish you would sell this in Massachusetts.
