Notes/Commercial Description:
Enticing, rich and complex, this creation defies easy description. Our 'once-a-year beer' is brewed only during sugaring season with 100% maple sap from our friend Paul Marble in Fayston, VT. No water added! Just barley, hops, and ale yeast.

2013 bottle, poured into a large stemmed wine glass. Pours a deep transparent brown with a ruby tinge. Maybe a millimeter of head that settles to some khaki wisps floating on the top.

Smell is of maple, toffee, butter, caramel, peat. Very alluring!

Taste is sweet, semi-sugary. Maple forward followed by dark fruit flavor like prunes.and malty. Maybe a hint of bourbon. Almost a bubblegum-like flavor.

Expected to be heavier and syrupy in the mouth. Fairly medium bodied. No carbonation to speak of.

Overall this was a very interesting beer that I'm excited I got to try. I'm not always a fan of dark tripels so I was not wowed. Will try this again when I can get it fresh to compare to this almost year old bottle.
