Enticing, rich and complex, this creation defies easy description. Our 'once-a-year beer' is brewed only during sugaring season with 100% maple sap from our friend Paul Marble in Fayston, VT. No water added! Just barley, hops, and ale yeast.

16.9 fl oz 2020 version, bottle 372 of 1200, courtesy of Rick G. A dark ruby red with a sizzling tan head that quickly dissipates poured into an elongated tulip glass. Aroma is heavy maple. Initial oxidation and heat burns off immediately and is not present after the initial wafting. The taste is right in line with the nose, though I do also get a slight sense of the oak barrel. Very smooth mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Outstanding fall/winter beverage.

Enjoying a 500ml offering, bottled in October 2019. Bottle #1312 of 1500. This was a gift from the owners of the Airbnb we stay at frequently in Waterbury VT.
Pours a deep, rich, clear garnet/mahogany color. Can't see any carbo within, but the head is thin and creamy, light beige suds creating a fine layer with decent lace. Aroma is easily detected, with maple leading the way, followed by toffee, caramel and vanilla. Body is a chewy medium-plus, and it's smooth as silk on the tongue.
Flavor has a lovely level of sweetness without becoming cloying at all. Has lovely notes of toffee, caramel and vanilla, plus the ever present layer of maple wandering around on the palate. Has some earthy hopping in the finish, but the maple is the show here. Despite tipping the scales at 12% ABV, it's not really boozy or hot at all. Very nice!! Thnx Don & Georgeanne... Prosit!!

This beer is incredible and lives up to the hype. Truly uniquely amazing beer. Stock up and cellar it. It really shines after a couple years

L: A clear brown/ruby with a thing head that dissipates into a ring with no lacing. Very typical barleywine.
S: Nice woody oak and maple, caramel, toasted coconut, and spicy booze.
T/M: Soft bitterness, very rich and complex maple flavor, caramel, toasted coconut, oak, vanilla. Very sweet, but not syrupy, the finish is maple syrup, vanilla, spicy booze, and char.
Overall: A really exceptional barleywine or strong ale. As far as maple beers go, the best I have ever had. I really feel like this is a special beer, being brewed with concentrated maple sap instead of water. I highly recommend this to anyone who gets the chance to purchase it, especially if you are a lover of maple. Very rich, very robust, just an outstanding beer.

2019 Vintage.
L -- Deep amber in the glass with a moderate haze and a scant layer of light tan head produced with aerated pour. Some retention and minimal lacing
S -- Tooooons of maple. Maple syrup, maple candy, maple sap, caramel, toffee, vanilla, and a bit of molasses-barleywine character, leather
T -- Maple candy, maple liqueur, oak, hint of char, tobacco leaf. The maple sap swapped out with water makes this intensely maple-forward, in a very good way
F -- Slippery and very drinkable despite the high ABV. Big mouthfeel, minimal carb
O -- Excellent and unique offering, unlike any beer I've had before. Crazy pricey @$30/500ml, but as a Christmas special beer, I dig it
90/100

Dark clear amber brown appearance with a thin short lasting beige head, and no lacing. Maple, molasses, dates, oak notes. Medium to thick body, light carbonation. Beautiful beer!

Dark brown in color with a very murky in complexion. The aroma is of a massive wallop of barley and some maple syrup. I’m tasting an unrelenting assault of barley and sweet maple syrup. The mouth is very sticky and chewy.
