Got this one from scottg, shared with naproxen. We actually picked up another one from Sean today that we plan on aging, mmmhmmm :)

750 ml cork and caged bottle, #37 of 92. Poured into a tulip. OMG I should have totally traded this for Black Tuesday seeing it's so rare and all...maybeno

Pours a thick, gooey, motor oil black with a mud brown two finger head that leaves a spotty lace on the side of the glass. Aroma is deep and rich with earthy hops, big roasted barley and malts, and a touch of maple syrup. Dark chocolate and charred grains with not a single bit of booze in the nose, impressive. Taste is very similar with the big roasted flavors. Smokey malts, sweet Baker's chocolate, and some gritty hops. Some syrup midway, but not a whole lot...I was actually hoping for more. Aftertaste lingers forever with charcoal, hot cocoa, and wood. Once again, the big 10% abv is hidden on the tongue like it was in the nose. Big, rich, and chewy body with a slightly stronger carbonation than I like for the style. This is a perfect beer for the cold Northeast winter we've seen in the past couple of weeks, very warming and chewy. Anoter quality brew from Sean, reeeeally looking forward to seeing what some age will do to our other bottle. Delicious beer minus the hype, gotta love it.

Sampled at the 2010 Stout tasting in a Orval Chalice.

750ml corked & caged bottle.

Pours black, black with a nice thick very dark brown head, Nose is sharp and rich.

Taste is very rich and sharp, a bit astringent but very hoppy given the age and style. Nice and smooth really easy drinking for being so strong.

Had on tap at Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier yesterday. Pours black as night with a head that is solid brown, thing and leaves legs on the glass. Smells deep and rich, tons of coffee. Flavor starts very sweet like molasses, chocolate in the middle, big roasty note at the end, bitter. Heavy body beer that demands to be sip, enjoyed over the course of about 30 mins to let it warm. No big indicators of maple syrup in this one, if you didn't tell me it was in it I would have never known. No alcohol present so for 10% ABV this is awesome. Recommend!

Thanks to youbrewidrink for the bottle!

Pours a dark, luscious black with an enticing milky way colored, two-fingered head.

The smell is off the chain! Swiss Miss hot chocolate, cocoa nibs, melted caramel and sugary maple. I'm also picking up some roast. Lots of sweet going on.

The taste is pretty straightforward; mirroring the smell well. It seems to be a pretty decent clone of Founders CBS but with a twinge of smoke... just slightly, like bacon. This batch seems to have more maple in it than I previously believed because at room temperature the maple really shines through!

Extremely smooth for a 10% beer. Amazing drinkability! Creamy, silky mouthfeel. Just a terrific, unique stout I feel fortunate enough to have tried. Lawson's and Newhart... see Vermont brings something to the table after all!

On tap at three penny taproom.

Long time want, randomly walk into the three penny while visiting VT.... Lo and behold!

Looks dark and roasty, appetizing brown head subsides to good lacing.

Smells like roast chocolate with a hint of maple...tastes like a magical maple chocolate bar with hints of alcohol. Surprising considering it is a 10%!

This is awesome. Why can't I buy this by the case?!

This is the best maple stout I've ever had. I prefer imperial stouts without bourbon aging. This has none of the cloying sweetness of some other maple stouts, but rather brings out the maple with some coffee and chocolate bits, and a touch of smoke. It's very dark in color with a great foam/head. Perfect beer after hitting the slopes or relaxing near a fire.
