On tap at Prohibition Pig. Full 16oz pour into a ProPig snifter today, 2/10/2014.
App- Pitch black, thick dark mocha head, about one finger worth with great retention. Very delicious looking head that sticks around for a long time, it's almost like it was on nitro. Not much lacing.
Smell- Deep and sweet, a bit sugary with some dark fruits and roasty undertones.
Flavour- Faint dark fruits, strong roast, a bit of charred malts, sugar sweetness that is certainly not dry at all. Very rich and robust with a slight charred, earthy but sweet finish.
Mouthfeel- Best aspect. Full bodied, thick and syrupy, creamy and resinous but not cloying at all. Very drinkable, no hint of the 10.1% ABV.
Overall- Great Imperial Stout, I came into it looking at it as a American IS and it delivered on that count. The maple syrup seems to make it sweeter in a less dry and certainly not cloying manner. It's a well-done, very thick imperial stout that impresses in that regard.
