Special cask on 12/9/09 at The Three Penny Tap Room. A dark IPA that was cask conditioned and primed with local maple syrup for carbonation. Hand pulled with a sparkler in to a Lawson's Finest pint glass
A - Poured a deep coffee color with a tan head. The head retention was unreal. Poured like ice cream, and just ringed the entire glass. The glass was thoroughly coated.
S - Hops hit you first and then interesting malt and even some toasty coffee notes. Really nice.
T - Hops hit you hard and fast. They are beautifully balanced by the malt and have a delicate toast flavor. It has the hop kick of an ipa but the malt character of a brown ale and they paired wonderful together. There is a faint maple flavor on the finish. Just out standing.
M - It was creamy and smooth as would be expected from a hand pulled cask. Easy drinking that left the flavors linger.
D - This is one on the finest brews I have had in a really long time. It drinks big but is easy, approachable and surprisingly low in alcohol due to the flavor and appearance. Outstanding and hope that Lawson's Finest makes this again.
