375ml, Fall 2012
A: Pours a very dark brown color that in the glass is opaque black. Initially a half finger of tan head. Nice carbonation for the high abv. Forms a collar and faints sweeping head. Alcohol feet.
S: Smells awesome. Still getting some of that maple sweetness for sure. Oak. Vanilla. That barrel showing its teeth. Roasted malts. Some milk chocolate meshing in with the barrel.
T: Initial sip is delicious. I'm in for a treat. Bitter dark chocolate in the tip of the tongue. Vanilla. Bourbon sweetness. Some maple syrup. Roast dark malts. Finish is dry. Lingering dark chocolate. High cacao. Bitterness.
M: Full bodied. Creamy texture.

Opaque pour, one finger of khaki head, spotty lacing.
Deep roasty aroma with underlying bourbon and maple syrup notes.
Flavors are well balanced, very rich, chocolatey with roasted coffee and bourbon with the maple prominent but not overpowering, pleasant lack of woodiness.
Mouthfeel is slightly thin, carbonation appropriate for the style.
This was a Fall 2012 Vintage that I had cellared until 1/29/14, and it had mellowed very nicely. Highly recommended.
