Poured into my Tired Hands stem.

Pours a bright, yet hazy orange. Huge fluffy head settles to some soap sud-esque film leaving spotty lacing down the glass.

Smells great....mostly citrus rind and maybe a touch of a pine.

Taste follows through, fresh citrus with a little bitterness at the end. There was an odd aftertaste that I noticed, I can't really describe it except to say it was just a little off.

Mouthfeel is great on this beer. It is medium bodied and slightly creamy. Pretty impressive for the low ABV.

Overall this is really a fine beer. I'm really loving these low ABV, flavor filled beers that are popping up more and more....VT seems to be leading the way in thi area.

Bottle to Bruery Taster
22oz

Thanks to JealousChalice for sharing

App- A very orange looking beer. A good density and clarity mix even out of such a small ABV beer. Was a little surprised by the lack of bubbles on this but was okay with a touch of stick.

Smell- Its a good aromatic little beer. Had touches of being very hoppy and then it has the rye and the belgian yeast on this one is amazing. So forward and pronounced with a spicy pepper/pasta dough thing.

Taste- Well I really enjoyed this, the small ABV made it quite enjoyable with a welcomed blend of the rye, hops and yeast. I did find the vegetal taste a bit awkward but I liked it.

Mouth- A solid medium body with a low medium carbonation. Nicely balanced with a prickly flavor from the yeast and contributed by the rye and hops balancing it all out.

Drink- So far have not been let down by Lawson's at all. I would love another bottle of this. Drink alone of course.

22oz bottle purchased at the Lawson's Waitsfield Farmer's Market release a little over a week ago. Poured into Founders snifter.

A- Pours a brownish golden with about a fingers worth of slightly yeasty looking head that has great retention and slowly recedes. Slightly below average carbonation. Leaves layered lacing.

S- Definitely hoppier then I was expecting. Aromas of honey, floral hops, grain, wheat, grass, malts, barley, etc.. Definitely above average aroma smell- could smell a tiny bit when pouring from the bottle.

T- Lots of barely, grains, wheat, floral and slightly lemony hops, malts, a tiny bit of sweet honey, some spices. Finishes with barley and floral hops that linger. Everything is very well balanced.

M- Medium bodied, slightly juicy yet having nice carbonation, very easy to drink, nice overall feel.

O- I really enjoyed this saison. I thought all of the flavors were very well balanced while they nailed everything that they were going for. The barley, wheat, grains, floral hops, malts, and spices all molded perfectly together to provide quite a bit of flavor for a 4.5% abv. I definitely recommend trying this out

22oz bottle into Duvel tulip.

Appearance: Free pour yields a 3/4 inch frothy white head that dissipates quickly. Pours a hazy orange-tinged yellow. No lacing to speak of.

Smell: Orange and a floral, cologne-like Belgian yeast aroma. Pretty citrusy and understated.

Taste: Spicy rye up front, along with some lemon/grapefruit citrus flavor, leading to a lot of malt and grain flavors held up by the fullish body and a constant undertone of a really classy Belgian yeast... This yeast flavor is great. Finishes very dry with a lingering lemon/grapefruit aftertaste.

Very impressively crafted beer; balanced just right, tons of flavor for the ABV but not overwhelming or brash, prominent rye that doesn't steal the whole flavor, excellent body.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, with a bit of a full feel (I assume from the oats). High side of moderate carbonation. Very dry, which I love.

Overall: Excellent beer. Seems to have some subtly incorporated citrusy American hops, a great yeast flavor profile, and an almost perfect mouthfeel. This is a beer to win arguments against people who think low ABV means boring flavor.

bomber into 2012 SAVOR tulip.

A: a very hazy orange hued brew. head is white and bubbly. retention is good, but not much lacing.

S: very fruity nose. reminds me of citra hops. bubblegum. however, there are a lot of aspects that bring saison to mind as well. a little barny, but rather subtle. grapefruit.

T: the rye lends a serious spicy note throughout the drink. a minor vanilla flavor. kiwi. im assuming the fruit on the nose and palate are lent from the yeast mostly. black pepper. finish is very dry.

M: the carb is pretty big, but i dont think it detracts from the brew. medium body flavor on a light bodied ABV.

D: very drinkable. enough flavor to make it easy to revisit the glass will still being very crushable and manageable. worth trying.

Enjoyed on tap at the Prohibition Pg. White foam on cloudy yellow. A good spiciness,an understated citrus, more sweet than bitter, rye edginess, pepper. Very tasty, much flavour for lower abv. Above average saison.Carbonation does not get in the way.

Finally, another new ale from this brewery to review.

Pours a cloudy golden color with an amber hue and one-finger head into my glass.

Musky with subdued rye spice, oats, wheat and some honey as well. It's there so don't be put off by the initial aroma.

Chewy, spicy upfront with plenty of floral character to back it up. The addition of honey lightens the mouthfeel, allowing one to savor the oats and wheat.

Mouthfeel is a bit slick but not by much. Very saison-like otherwise. Lingering rye and honey mostly.

A decent example of the saison that incorporates rye. It's different from "Dorothy" from Hill Farmstead because that saison concentrates more on the rye. Worthwhile.
