Poured from a 22oz bomber. It pours with a rich 2 finger head that hangs around for a while. The copper orange color seems to glisten in the glass.

Smells of tropical fruits, mango and pineapple mainly, with some back end resinous pine bitterness and some sweet bready malts.

Taste pairs nicely with the nose. Bitter hops give way to the sweet tropical fruits, bready malts, and pine resin to finish. As the flavors linger, they play the bitter/sweet back and forth.

Mouthfeel is exceptional. Rich but not too thick and perfectly carbonated, this is how a DIPA should be.

Overall, I think this is a well put together beer. Not worthy of the hype surrounding it (I think Heady Topper is much better), but a solid brew none the less.

Very well crafted DIPA from the clean bodied appearance to the smooth mouthfeel. This is one of the most well-made DIPAs I've had. The mouthfeel is clean and smooth and allows all of the citrus and light pine notes to roll across the tongue. The hops are well in balance and the body is only there enough to carry them forward with a light sweetness. This DIPA is a bit sweeter than I expected and doesn't have the huge citrus punch of other world class DIPAs. Certainly worth a try, and much respect to Lawson's for their quality production.

Pours dark orange with a foamy white head. Aroma of fresh herbal hops, exotic fruits, lemon, citrus, grapefruit, grass, pine and resin. Taste is hoppy, fruity and grassy with notes of herbal hops, grapefruit, bitterness and lemon. Finish is fruity, herbal and hoppy with loads of bitterness, grass, pine, resin, citrus and lemon. Nicely hopped, herbal and fruity DIPA. Well balanced.

A regular brought in a bottle twice at Max's Hopfest (from notes, 8/16-18/13)

A: Cloudy, golden copper.

S: Sweet citrus and grass. Excellent.

T: A lot more subdued and nuanced than Heady Topper.

M: Slight carbonation that goes away fast.

O: Top notch. Gets better the more you drink it as the flavors develop and build in your mouth.

From the 10/12/13 release, so about two weeks old. Tulip glass.

A: Pours a pale straw color with a few cm. of delicate, bright white foam. Average retention, leaving the glass with a solid ring and some swirls on the surface, and a few streaks of lacing.

S: Light, faint malt and a little lemon, then herbal/grassy notes, a little juicy orange and kiwi (?). Pretty well balanced and a relatively restrained aroma.

T: Bright, juicy tropical (kiwi?) and citrus, grapefruit pith, finishing with a mild-to-moderate bitterness which provides some balance, and mild sweetness. The finish is a nice contrast of sweet and bitter, like you would get from chewing on sugar coated white grapefruit. Delicate flavors.

M: Medium body and medium-high, nearly sharp, carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden.

O: A very good DIPA., highly drinkable and refreshing. I could see this as a superb hot weather beer. Not quite at the level of Alpine, Pliny, or Heady, but a solid second tier option. It doesn't have the big aromas or flavors that you might expect from such a highly rated IPA, but it excels in its balance just as I think Pliny does.
