Thanks to Hopsbreath

Appearance- Hazy sunshine color with a small white head. 4.5/5

Smell- Little bit of an ammonia smell. Some pine and little bit of malt. 3.5/5

Taste - Pine hop flavor. Some floral, citrus, and ammonia. 3/5

Mouthfeel- A rare, thin DIPA. That is the way I like them though. 4/5

Overall- This started out rather well. Piney and a little citrus. After it warmed up a bit, however, it kinda gave off a weird, funky taste. Didn't really like it after that. Maybe it was just me though. 2.5/5

Bottle from youbrewidrink and shared by Doopiedoopiedoo. Some name, jackass.

From a bomber into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, fluffy looking, white head with good retention. Hazy gamboge orange with medium levels of carbonation. Head fades to a foamy cap and sticks to the sides of the glass. A splotchy wisp remains and leaves some dots of lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Really big nose with piles of tropical fruit. Pineapple, honeydew melon, cantaloupe and some grapefruit aromas. Big nose, fruity, and really enticing.

TASTE: Starts off with some grassy hops, pale malts and honeydew melon, then moves into a big and bitter finish. Pale malt sweetness and a touch of caramel through the middle, then lots of hop bitterness with piney and grassy notes linger on the palate. Very flavorful and persistent, but lacking that tropical fruit explosion that the nose had advertised.

PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy on the palate, smooth going down and finishes a touch dry. Bitterness lingers. Good feel.

OVERALL: The nose was outstanding to say the least, but the taste just didn't follow suit. The tropical fruit that came out so well in the aroma would have been great in the flavor, but instead we were greeted with lots of straight bitterness and grassy hop flavors. Decent, but not what it could have been. Still, very happy to try this and look forward to more Lawson's in the future, as they've always been enjoyable. Cheers again boys.

Pours hazy golden with a medium head that recedes extremely quickly to loose bubbles. Smells resiny and piney, with slight citrus. Overall, aroma is somewhat muted. Taking a sip.. whoa that is a mouthful of pine! Like walking through a pine forest and just biting into a branch. Finishes dry and strongly bitter, with an unusual astrigency felt on my inner lips.

Overall, this is not my preferred style of DIPA. I like citrusy, fruity hops and a little more sweetness. Others will undoubtedly prefer this profile and rate this higher.

Bottle purchased from the brewer last week; poured into a HF stem at cellar temperature.

Light orange color with slight haze. 1 finger head from a fairly aggressive pour, dies down quickly to leave a few streaks of head and lacing.

Nice citrus and shortbread smell, not very pronounced compared to the taste to come. Big grapefruit taste with some pine and tropical fruits. A bit of malt sweetness sneaks through toward the front end, but quickly gives way to a very astringent bitterness. I was put off by this at first (and I generally am a big hop head). So it took a while to finish my glass. Interestingly, as the beer came closer to room temperature, the bitterness mellowed and the flavors seemed much more in balance.

Juicy medium body. A little heavy - could use a bit more carbonation to lighten things up.

Overall a nice DIPA. I would try this one again.

651mL gold foil thanks to dyan and oldsock/Mad Fermentationist. Pours a clear light gold. Spotty lace. Richer tangerine, mango pulp, papaya nose. Vanilla as well. Taste is rich, sugary, quenching. Palate is thick, no astringency. Mild macadamia nut fat. Nice. Jackfruit sugar, pith, and mild pina colata type white alcohol. 5/31/2012 8/3/7/4/15=3.7
