A trifecta of hop varieties (Citra, Simcoe & Amarillo) which delivers a symphony of juicy fruit-forward hop flavors and a delightful bouquet of aromas. Winner of Brewing News National IPA Championship (2011), there is simply ‘no batter beer’!

It’s a little more bitter than the typical Lawsons Sip of Sunshine or Double Sunshine. Not the best brew but sill good.

Deliciously sculpted of Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo hops, Lawson's Finest baseball themed IPA brings a juiciness of more hazy trends to a classic, drier IPA with a slightly more assertive bitterness. Ready to take on all rivals, it's batter up!

Light and hazy gold. Triple Play kicks off with a frothy pour while crowning with a cottony white cap. As the radiant aromas of citrus, herb, floral and spice. With a kiss of sweetness, the early palate welcomes the more supple suggestions of honey, angel food cake and the light toasted character of graham cracker.

Then the hops load the bases with that tandem of hop varieties that share a wonderful display of tangerine, red grapefruit, mango and pineapple. As hints of herb waft about, a grassier tone brings lemon pepper, sassafras, cannabis, tea and verbena to the balance before trending steadily bitter with fresh spruce, fresh cut grass and a more peppery hop tilt.

Medium bodied and treading on the drier side of malty-dry, Triple Play finishes floral, fruity and lightly spicy with gin-like botanicals. A medium long finish of peppery hops and fruit peels gives more bitter IPA fans something to celebrate while appeasing those of the smoother, juicier haze.

Crystal clear golden with a foamy white head and a touch of lacing. The aroma is very citrusy, herbal, and tropical. Mainly just hops, but a touch of bready/crackery malt and a bit of that lawson's fermentation profile (distinct, but I don't know how to describe it). The flavor is similar, but much more lush and juicy with sweet citrus, mango, and some herbal spiciness being the main players. The malt is very restrained and the finish is very dry allowing the hop flavors to really shine. Overall, another stellar IPA from Lawson's. I would but this up as one of their better offerings in my opinion. Perfectly balanced and full of flavor, I highly recommend it.

Canned 10 days ago. Looks like this is the first time Lawson's has brewed this since moving to their new brewery, and this is also the first time in cans.

L -- Pours a golden straw body with two fingers of soapy off-white head and almost no haze whatsoever, which is quite nice to see. Some miniscule hop particulate in suspension, like many of their offerings
S -- Dank grapefruit, zippy pine, bit of honey sweetness from the pale malt bill, hint of weedy resins and floral
T -- Largely follows the nose. This is classic Lawson's/Alchemist: tons of fresh, citrus/pine-heavy hops that are allowed center stage thanks to the pale malts. Super clean with biting but not excessive bitterness. Bit of pineapple astringency on the tail end of the sip
F -- Semi-fluffy and very easy drinking despite the massive flavor profile. Medium+ mouthfeel, medium carb
O -- I dig it. Tried alongside Double Sunshine and noticed a lot of similarities

The appearance was a burnt golden color with a one finger white foamy head that held up for great retention and dissipated at a nice pace into a concave sort of glazing all around. The smell had some sweet danky onion, tropical fruity bliss and as it warmed bitter piney/resinous aromas wrapping together. The taste had the bitterness of the pine coinciding with the tropical fruity hops. Bitter juicy to semi-sprucy aftertaste runs into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a good sipping to almost sneaky sessionable feel to it. Carbonation feels good for an AIPA allowing enough bitterness all around. Overall, I’d say this was an exceptional AIPA that I would love to have again.

Green foiled top bottle (date not found on bottle) poured into large IPA glass. Looks is a hazy copper color with a nice white head that remains, lacing rings the glass when consumed. The smell is lightly fruited with pine notes and subtle caramel malt. The taste is way more malty than the smell, slight oniony notes come through mid palate. The feel through me off, especially for Lawson's! Definitely phenolic harsh bitterness that lingers around and a lighter feel overall. Overall I am disappointed, but hey as a Homebrewer for 9 years I know that some batches are better than others. Cheers.
