Pours a cloudy deep brown color. Off-white foam head (small).
Smells like alcohol, a bit of burnt/roasted sugar and ... wood? Maple? Something tree-like, anyway.
Taste is too boozy for me, and there's a weird acrid aftertaste that's a bit too sharp. The brown sugar/maple is prominent, but I wouldn't say it's a sweet beer. It's just too harsh, all the way around, both from the malt profile and from the booze. It did grow on me, though.
Nice velvety mouthfeel.
