it poured a goldenrod yellow. somewhat cloudy with a medium head that dissipated to a thin lace.

it smelled like a grapefruit put on some lavender cologne for a night on the town and then went swimming in grapefruit juice.

it tastes heavier on the malts than i would normally prefer but somehow shines through with a lingering mix of alcohol and bitter bitter hops with a touch of smooth citrus and an ever so slight hint of florals. its extremely well balanced and i prefer an unbalanced hops.

the mouthfeel is outstanding. it sits forever. its smooth to drink and thick on the finish.

overall, i would drink a hundred of these. its definitely a top 10.

22oz bomber, courtesy de @blackie as he travels the eastern seaboard in search of something that doesn't suck

Served in a hilliards can-pint, light golden straw body with a nice frothy head. Showcasing the NZ Jade hop - herbal, fresh citrus zest, peppercorn. From my limited exposure, Lawson's is making some of the best IPA's on the planet - this is a really nice showcase of a rather unusual hop that you definitely don't see too much of in the NW. The finish has a really light bitterness with a nice clean hop zest.

650 mL bottle poured into an Allagash chalice.

Appearance - Very cloudy orange body without a very impressive head. Some bubbles on the surface, but it looks a little undercarbonated. Sticky lacing and a few surface islands.

Smell - Dynamic blend of hop aromas. Mango and tropical fruits are the strongest, but a close second is a simcoe-like aroma. Grapefruit, too. In the back is a slightly herbal hop aroma that reminds me of Double Sunshine.

Taste - Grassy and herbal hops are more prevalent here, but the tropical fruits still persist. I wish I knew which flavors the jade hops were providing. Nice blend of hops, overall. Malt presence is nice, just a touch of sweetness to balance. Healthy grassy hop bite in the back end.

Mouthfeel - It is a little bit undercarbonated. Makes it a little less crisp than I'd like, but I'm still trying really hard not to put this one away in two or three gulps. It's a little bitter, too. My wife found it too bitter, likening it to a gratuitous nipple slip in an otherwise classy movie.

Overall - Another excellent offering from Lawson's. I can't get enough of VT IPAs. Lawson's provides consistent quality in their IPAs with enough hop variation to keep me seeking them out.

Pours a translucent dark golden colour, and a bright white finger and a half of fluffy head. Dissipates leaving lots of spongy late behind.

The aroma was big on the tropical fruits. Sweet and fruity mango, papaya, slight pineapple, and touches of zesty citrus.

Quite similar to the aroma, there's plenty of mango, and other tropical fruitiness. Not much of the citrus, but maybe a sweet grapefruit and some pine. Bitterness was sharp and to the point.

Had a nice light creamy feel, medium body, slick, oily, lightly crisp carbonation.

Solid well above average IPA.

Pours bright yellow/orange with a slight haze. 2 fingers of fluffy white head leaving excellent retention with some clumps of lacing down the glass.

Citrusy nose with some earthiness and spice character akin to what you'd expect from noble hops.

Lots of bright citrus flavor up front, more so than I would have guessed from the nose. Grapefruit and orange rind with just a touch of caramel malt. Finishes spicy with a little lingering citrus.

Shading toward medium bodied although lighter than the kiwi. Moderate carbonation and finishes fairly dry.

Nice well balanced beer as the combo of citrus with the spiciness on the back end is unique and pleasant. Just a shade below Kiwi, but would be glad to have this one again.

Bottles from the Warren Store, consumed once back home, reviewed from notes. Golden in color with a rich bone-white head. The Jade brings all the tropical lovely stuff I’ve come to expect from the NZ varietals - kiwi and mango with a big floral contingent and some peppery citrus zest. Pale and caramel malts bring a light sweetness and a nice, even grain flavor. Medium in body and carbonation. Balanced bitterness to finish. Loving the IPAs that Lawson’s is bringing to the table - some of the best anywhere.

Out of my Long Trail Brewmaster's glass, 22oz bottle.

A- A very bright golden straw color. Very nice clarity, with a frothy white head. Tons of lacing, and the head retains very well. Has a nice glow to it.

S- A fairly muted scent of grass, light citrus, and peach. While I expected a bit more even from a single IPA, it is still has a nice aroma.

T- Very nice and smooth at first, the hops slowly fade into presence with some light bitterness. The hop profile is fairly perfumey to me, with a slight dryness. I almost get some lavender flavors.

M- One of the stronger points of this beer. Good body and carbonation, with just the right hop flavor. Very well balanced.

O- Overall this is a pretty solid IPA. While It's certainly not my favorite hop variety, it is quite different and interesting. The base beer is very nice, but could just use a bit more hop smell/flavor. If you like a nice crisp, dry IPA, this is a great beer for you.
