Had this one at the Prohibition Pig Lawson's Night last night.
Appearance: Pours a very attractive transparent orange with honey folds. The head is creamy, hop oily tinged, 3 fingers, slightly buttery white, shows massive retention and caked on lace.
Smell: Simcoe hops producing a slight tangelo fruitiness, good bitterness, good pine presence, and a hint of wet grass.
Taste: Same as the nose. The bitterness is so well refined. Brett adds the tiniest twang if anything. I spoke to Sean and Steve at the event and they confirmed that this is Hopzilla that is bottle refermented with brett rather than primary fermented with brett.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, well carbonated, a touch of chewiness.
Drinkability: While "balanced" might not be the best word, considering this one is all about the hops with little malt profile, the hops are extremely balanced themselves!

On-tap at the Lawson's tap takeover at The Prohibition Pig in Waterbury, VT. This is Hopzilla fermented with brett. Reviewed from written notes. Served in a Lawson's snifter.
*Review #350!
A- Appears pretty similar to Hopzilla- Hazy slightly translucent orange, nice carbonation of consistently rising bubbles, fairly thick half finger of head that has nice retention and leaves lots of perfectly layered lacing.
S- Oranges, mango, grapefruit, a bit of guava, and a definite brett smell that doesn't add too much funk but provides a nice slightly grassy earthy aroma that balances nicely with the fruity hops.
T- Oranges, Mangoes, grapefruit, some guava, lightly dank hops, finishes with a distinct brett taste that isn't too overpowering or funky or sour at all. The brett enhances the earthy presence of the hops a little bit, and fits in well with the fruit flavors. Nice lingering fruity aftertaste of mangoes. Very nicely balanced, I especially like how the brett is distinct but not overpowering.
M- Medium bodied, nice carbonation, very easy to drink.
O- I've only had a few Brett IPAs before this one and all of them have been let downs so I wasn't sure what to expect from this. Surprisingly though the brett worked itself very nicely into this beer. It definitely let it's presence be known, but remained fairly subtle blending in nicely with the hops yet adding an additional complexity. Overall I preferred Hopzilla a little better because I felt like the hops and fruity flavors were able to come out a little bit more, however Brettzilla was very good and I definitely enjoyed this interesting variation that changed my view on Brett IPAs.
