650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Not quite black. Thick off white head. Retains for a long time. Nice lacing.

Smell - Grassy hop. Roasty. Smells nice.

Taste - Way downhill here. Hoppy, but thin, bitter, and grainy. Roastiness very strong, but really intense in every disappointing flavor.

Mouthfeel - Bitter and thin. Well carbonated.

Overall - A second disappointing beer from Lawson's on the night. What the hell.

Vermont tap takeover at Hop & Vine in Portland, OR

A: Dark brown, cola colored with a tan head

S: Roasty aromas with mild herbal notes

T: Heavy roast flavor bordering on burnt

M: High carbonation, medium body

O: This is not my preferred point on the Black IPA spectrum. I'd like more hops and less roast.

Serving type: on-tap

A - Pours a super dark brown with a smaller dark tan fine head with good retention.

S - Strong hoppy pine, subtle citrus and very subtle roasted malts.

T - Roasted malts with a strong pine finish.

D - Good carbontaion with a medium body.

O - I know we created this styly in the NW, but I still don't love it. Solid attempt.

22 oz bottle served in a Lawson's tulip. Thanks Thorpe.

Pours a clear dark brown with ruby tinges and bubbly light tan head. Aroma has a slight citrus bitterness but is predominantly ashy roast malt and pine. Slightly sweeter flavor than nose, roast and toasted malt, citrus rind and a finish of pine hops and ash. Medium thick with moderate carbonation.
