22oz bottle purchased at the Lawson's 5th Anniversary about a month ago, refrigerated since purchase. Tried on-draft a couple times at the Anniversary party. Full pour into a Lawson's tulip.

A- Pours a brownish golden with about a finger's worth of white foamy head that has about average retention and leaves some spotty lacing around the sides of the glass. Fairly consistent carbonation, a little bit darker then your typical IPA.

S- Nicely balanced aromas of grapefruit, lemons, light pine, malts, and just a hint of booze (hardly detectable, not what you would expect from 11.1%). One of the best balanced IPAs I've had, right on par with Alpine. The booze is remarkably well hidden.

T- Lemons, grapefruit, caramel malts, some light booze that blends right in. Finishes with a nice lemon, sweet malt finish that is incredibly balanced and lingers as an aftertaste. Overall the taste is great, and tasting fantastic over a month past bottling- quite possibly even better then when I had it on draft at the anniversary party (only rated it a 4 then).

M- Incredibly smooth, quite possibly the smoothest beer I've encountered over 11%, carbonation a bit on the low side but nice for the beer.

O- This beer was fantastic and shows that Lawson's is one of the best IPA brewers in the country if not the best. The only brewery that I think even comes close is Alpine. Peril, like the rest of Lawson's IPAs, is extremely balanced while still maintaining a ton of flavor and staying incredibly smooth despite the high abv. I really hope Sean Lawson brews this again as it is easily a world class beer.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Hazy orange with a nice white head. Good surface foam and retention.

Smell - Herbal hops. Some grapefruit. Lots of sweet malts. Alcohol.

Taste - Herbal hops right up from. A citrus sweetness builds in the middle. It's a blend of hops and sweet malts. Finishes dry, surprisingly. Boozy, though.

Mouthfeel - It's boozy but it's quite drinkable. Medium heavy body.

Overall - Very good, but there are better IPAs of the same style. Lawson's never disappoints, though.

A: hazy, murky, orange. White head, okay retention, minimal lace.

S: pone, resins, citrus, fruitiness, caramel.

T: pine, medium bitterness, blood orange, mango, caramel, fruit juice.

M: full, slick, clean, sharp.

O: its a heavy IIPA, but its still quite tasty. No double sunshine though!
