El Cat member here, & have to admit I'm not wild about pumpkin beers, so this was low on my list of things I was excited about. But hey, here we all are. 750ML bottle split with my wife while watching Minority Report.

The pour looks like hideously pureed pumpkin brain: dark orange & murky as the Mississippi in high spring water. Smells like pumpkin gingerbread cookies. And that's all I have to say about that.

Good Gourd Almighty is fucking weird: I have never put anything like this into the sacred temple of my body. Follows the nose to a 'T' except for the rum: there's a strong cross-current of rum loveliness soaking the cookies. The pumpkin is light, thank the Great Pumpkin, & it is cut with a double-fist of spicing. A weakness is the heaviness, this feels like a glut of heavy oil in the stomach. Half a bomber? Probably a bit too much, honestly.

Interesting is the highest compliment I can pay this & the El Cat beers I've had to date have certainly been unique. This one is too heavy & deep to really hit the bullseye, but still a pretty good beer.

Shared large bottle.
Drinks like a barleywine, with a somewhat thin body and obviously high ABV.
Overly sweet but otherwise good balance and good, if strong, use of rum barrel aging. Subtle pumpkin.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep amber. Nice khaki head. Medium collar.

Smell - Wow it's rummy. Smells like a rum and coke. Some spiced character and a faint pumpkin.

Taste - And it really tastes like a rum and coke. Lots of rum. The pumpkin is lost. Brown sugar. Dry finish.

Mouthfeel - Not all that sweet, but very boozy. Dry and a little oaky.

Overall - Rum and coke beer. Tasty.
