Cigar City "Wiregrass Post-Prohibition Ale"
on tap @ World of Beer, 2751 West Torch Lake Drive, Wildwood, FL 32163 - 09/05/2014

Notes: Mainly clear yellow-gold. White head holds well, leaves average lacing (might be the glass). Bright, hoppy aroma of juicy citrus and melon (grapefruit, lemon, tangerine). Little malt gets through. The flavor follows although there is a malt component to it, basic and somewhat biscuity. Grassy. Boldly hopped for both flavor and bitterness. Alcohol is somewhat noticeable. It's impressive in it's brashness, but I've tasted more balanced beers from Cigar City.

2 week old can pours a light honey slightly cloudy color with nice light cream colored head. Head stays around a while leaving nice lacing on glass. Smell is strong as expected from a fresh CCB offering. Tastes very hoppy with this funky off taste. Ends with a nice mellow semi sour hoppy aftertaste. There is that always present CCB flavor that is hard to pinpoint but seems to be in most of there hopped up canned beers. This is basically JAI ALAI LIGHT. Hope you all enjoy this up in LA (lower Alabama). 4.00

Not much of a nose but it does have som tones of grapefruit rind and white fruits. Murky golden straw body hosts a half inch of off white head. Flavor has tones of grapefruit and a nice dryness. Finish has a solid pink grapefruit feel. Solid drinkable pale. Nicely dry.

Beautiful color, with a round and resounding gold color, slightly caramel-brown at the heart; little flecks of sediment sit at the bottom of my Junkyard tulip, while billowing, big-bubble froth forms a cloud-white cap, and doesn't quit. Pungent-ass nose: Kaffir-lime leaf, Meyer lemon zest, grapefruit juice and candied-peel asserts themselves at first sniff—delivering on the can-patter's promise of citric redolence—but there's a touch of malty maize hiding around the periphery of the bouquet. The flavors, too, are—making good on the label's guarantee—citrus-focused, but that focus does not lapse into exorbitance, and is moreover quite smooth. Indeed, Wiregrass is really a confluence of a lot of great elements: lemon candy, lemongrass, dry grasses and straw, orange oils, a bit of laurel bitterness, a corn-premised silkiness of mouthfeel—matched by some carbonic bite—and very pale malt flavors that I find more crackery than biscuity, and that moreover are inflected with a bit of vanilla and blonde-agave.

A very solid beer that does a great job arguing for the intelligence of ending prohibition (both the more famous federal version, and Alabama's own little proscription on home-brewing).

This beer totally surprised me. A truly delicious hop-forward pale ale.

Pours a light, mostly filtered tangerine color.

Aroma is citrusy, lemon/tangerine/grapefruit. Hop resin. Grassy, herbaceous notes.

I'm a huge Tree House Brewing fan, and this beer's flavor oddly reminds me of a less-tropical, more grassy and lighter mouthfeel Tree House Green, which just so happens to be my favorite IPA. Medium bitterness.

Overall, a very delicious pale ale.
