A: Clear light golden yellow in color. Forms a moderate sized fluffy white head. Decent retention, eventually falling to a thick chunky surface coating. Moderate lacing.

S: Fairly strong aroma. Mostly dry bitter citrus like grapefruit and orange pith, but with notes of pine and earth as well.

T: Taste is dry and bitter. Biscuity malt. Grapefruit, citrus pith, pine, earth, and pine resin. A hint of orange. Earthy on the back end.

M: Medium bodied. Fairly bitter, if not somewhat abrasive. Appropriate carbonation.

O: Not a bad beer, though I have yet to figure out what makes this a "Caribbean Style IPA." Tastes rather typical of the Ahatnum hop. That said, there is a reason why no one creams their jeans over an Ahatnum beer the same way they do about a Citra or Mosaic beer. It simply isn't as juicy, tropical or inviting as those hops, but it is what it is.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. can into a Russian River pint glass.

A: Mildly hazy gold color, with a thin white head that fades quickly. Medium visible carbonation.

S: Light hoppy aroma (grassy and melons), a light cracker malt - but not much aroma here at all.

T: Bitterest of citrus pith, grapefruit, and bitter resin. This seems to be one of those bitter bombs without much accompanying flavor. Minimal cracker malt character.

M: Light body, good carbonation sensation, and the alcohol is well-hidden.

O: I really didn't enjoy this one much. Strangely low aroma and flavor, just letting flavorless bitterness come through. Nothing horrendous but I don't think I'd seek it out. Worse than the Simcoe version by a significant margin.

12oz can poured into tulip.
It must be noted that this can is 3 months old - beyond it's prime.

A: Pours marmalade-orange with 2 fingers of off white head. Clear, but for the many clumps of hop resin floating around.

S: Pretty weak overall. Some citrus, banana, and pineapple. A touch floral and stale.

T: Pine resin up front, followed by a floral taste and moderate bitterness.

M: Seems a little heavier than the other HotHS, but it could be just me. Pretty smooth.

O: Can't really say this is a bad IPA, but there are much better options. As far as the HotHS series goes, I'd stick with the 'Citra' as it is in a league of it's own.

12 oz. can poured into a snifter. December 20th, 2013. This is old.

Appearance - Orange body. Huge white head. Great lacing and retention.

Smell - Piney hop. Musty. Toasty malt. Getting weird.

Taste - A little tropical. Sweet and citrusy. Pine and grassy hop bitterness and some toasty malts.

Mouthfeel - Bitter. Medium bodied and well carbonated.

Overall - Probably way too old. But I didnt like the hop profile.

12 oz. can received as an extra, thanks Elliott!

A: Pours a hazy golden orange with very little whitish head, subtle lacing.

S: Lots of citrus - pineapple, lemon and grapefruit at the core. Some earthy and piney undertones but this smells tropical as advertised.

T: Nice citrus up front with lots of grapefruit, lemon, and bitter orange peel. Some pine and resin come through as well.

M: Light to medium bodied with mild bitterness and a clean crisp finish that coats the palate. Very easy drinking.

O: Another good beer in this series from CCB. I have enjoyed every beer I've tried from this brewery and this does not disappoint.
