12 oz. can poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Clear golden orange body. Nice white head. Some lacing inside the glass and some islands of foam.

Smell - Tropical fruit hops, but a lot of herbal and grassy notes. Something sweet to it that isn't malt, though. Like coconut or something.

Taste - Tropical fruit and grapefruit. Sweet caramel malts. Herbal character comes out more in the grassy bitterness. A little musty.

Mouthfeel - Bitterness lingers on the palate. The grassy bitter finish is intense. Medium body.

Overall - The hop tastes really good up front. Maybe too bitter, but it's a well made IPA.

A: Bright gold body topped by white head and great lace. Excellent head retention.
S: Tropical fruit, pineapple, lemon & floral aromas.
T: Citrus, lemon zest flavors and light malt presence that starts sweet and finishes with a dry, clean, bitter back end.
M: Nicely balanced IPA with good carbonation.
O: Decent Caribbean style IPA with tropical feel and flavors.

I am trying to reduce some of the backlog of CANQuest (TM) CANs that built up while awaiting picture approval, name correction, time, money, the bevy of bikini-clad beauties to depart the premises, the Russians to get the f**k out of the Crimean Peninsula ... Suffice it to say that things were getting away from me and I am CANmitted to getting back on an even keel.

From the CAN: "Drink fresh! Do not age! Pour gently into a glass."; "A tropical IPA dry-hopped on the high seas with one of our favorite hops: Hop #529"; "Caribbean-style ale".

A nice, loud Crack! presented a brimful craft CAN, but these guys must have been talking to my Old Lady, who was scandalized by the inverted Glug. It's beer, kids! It ain't gonna bruise, but I promised that I would use a gentle pour when so directed. I wonder how an experimental hybrid hops strain ranks as one of their favorites ... Hmmm. This one was MUCH more active than its brethren in terms of its carbonation and I was quickly overrun by a foaming action! I backed off, then poured the rest, resulting in two dense, rocky fingers of fluffy, bone-white head with good retention. Color was a deep-gold (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity and loads of CO bubbles in evidence. Nose was prevalent with peach, but I CAN definitely get behind another reviewer's mention of fruit cocktail. Warming, I also got fresh mint and coconut. Beautiful lacing also began to appear. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, thanks to the carbonation and the mintiness was immediately discernible on the tongue. It was not until the swallow that I began to perceive the fruitiness of the nose again. This rendered it semi-dry, not fully dry and after this AIPA marathon, I was kind of glad. It ain't easy being a self-avowed hophead on a CANQuest (TM)!

Cigar City Hopped on the High Seas

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Cigar City snifter. Served chilled... Perhaps a little too chilled. Had to let this warm a bit to really open up.

A) Hazy golden amber brew. Really not much head. Perhaps a half finger of suds, that dissipated quickly.

S) Plenty bitter initially, but after letting this rest, a pleasant tropical fruit aroma revealed itself. I got pineapple chunks, peach syrup, and light citrus.

T) Near the nose... Piney hop bitterness, lemon zest, citrus rind, balanced with a fruit cocktail sweetness. Wouldn't have guessed the ABV is 7%.

M) Lighter medium body. Lighter carbonation. It's crisp and refreshing. Bitter with a slightly dry finish.

O) A very enjoyable IPA. Glad to have given this a try. Wouldn't mind having more of this in the fridge.

12 oz can with something printed on the bottom that I cant make out. Oh Well freshness/canning date info would be nice with a beer like this....

Pours hazed medium amber, moderate off white head, that leaves nice looking fine sheeting all the way to the top of the glass.

Tropical fruit and hop resin on the noise.

Pleasingly hopped, hop character is mostly tropical fruit with some resinous qualities tossed in.

Fresh tasting, went nicely with some cheddar cheese. Worth a try.

Canned on 1/30/14

A- pours a clear golden color with a two-finger creamy white head that retains long after the pour, with bubbles continuously shooting to the top

S- fruity hop aroma with notes of citrus, papaya and mango. Toasted grainy malt with some grassy aroma

T- lots of fruity flavors coming from the hops; mango and pineapple. Floral and grassy notes kick in mid-palate, leading to caramel malt and a minty and candied peach syrup finish

M- medium body with low carbonation, smooth mouthfeel and slightly creamy finish, high drinkability

O- enjoyed the fruity hop flavors, unlinke most that I've had in an IPA. Enjoyed this more than the Kohatu
