12oz can at 41 F poured into a tulip. Shipped to me from my dad in Florida. Canned date is 2/10/14.
Pours slightly translucent, brown, medium off-white head that dissipates quickly to almost no head. Some visible carbonation. Smell is nutty, roasty, slight yeast, slight tobacco (wettish, like pipe tobacco).
Taste is rich and interesting. More nut, something peanut buttery about it. Something woodsmokey about it. Something hazelnutty (I got to that through the sequence of peanut butter...not quite...nutella...not quite...hazelnut). Mild hoppy bitterness.
Mouthfeel is smooth (velvety came to mind). Overall, this is a pretty darn good brown.

Enjoyed the Cigar City Maduro while visiting The Porch in Key West. So perhaps the atmosphere contributes to my posite rating, but nevertheless its a great beer.
Appearance: slightly cloudy the color of weak diner coffee.
Smell: a little chocolate, a little coffee but not a whole lot of fragrance.
Taste: amazing. Makes up for all that is lacking in color and smell.
Mouthful: light, not a lot of after taste.

Smells chocolate hazelnut... dark pour
Chocolate aftertaste. Toffee as well
Surprised how much a light body feel it has to it considering the super dark color. Not much head. Carmel on the front end.
Would go great with dessert after dinner. Would definitely try this again.

Poured from 12oz can into tulip glass.
Appearance: dark, woody brown. Tan head rapidly collapses to thin ring. No lacing.
Aroma: caramel, slight smokiness.
Flavour: sweet, woody fruitiness. Caramel. Gentle, subdued bitterness offsets the sweetness leaving me wanting more.
Overall: beautiful example of an English brown ale. I can't wait to have it at a cookout!
