This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a nice looking hazy golden amber to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated at a rather nice pace. The lacing was sticky. The smell had a really nice sweet toffee, light caramel, light vanilla, light plum and just a tad of tobacco to want to balance it towards the English side. However, some light bittersweet citrus hops beg to differ. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined wonderfully in a sweet way. Tobacco does come back to buff up the flavoring. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with more of a sipping quality to it. The carbonation seemed to have balanced itself out with a little graceful age as the ABV also feels slightly hidden. Overall, I believe I had this at the absolute best time. This was an absolutely spectacular Barleywine I would have again.

Pours the color and clarity of caramel with no head. Nose expresses ethanol, malt, wet cardboard, toasted malt and a hint of sweetness. Taste expresses earthy hops, butterscotch, sweet, a hint of cardboard and a hint of cardboard at the finish. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a carbonation shy of lively. All and all, not bad but past its prime.

Very hoppy, much more than appropriate for the style, even though I enjoyed this.

Poured from a bomber into a sniffer. Perhaps the best Barleywine I have had the pleasure of drinking. Aromas of honey, butterscotch, and toffee with a dark caramel color. Very malty and high in ABV at 10%. Very malt forward but with a clean finish. Tastes of honey, caramel even a tad chocolaty. The high ABV definitely helped the overall taste and this was a very hearty beer. The execution of this Barleywine was superb in my opinion, absolutely incredible beer.
