12oz can. Thanks Doug for sharing this one. Poured into a GLBC snifter today, 5/1/2014.

A- Lighter orange body, one finger white head with fair retention, some lacing.

S- I don't know what to make of this. Pale malt evoking caramel and a bit of biscuit. An odd rotten fruit kind of sweetness comes out, that evokes blue cheese. Not something I want in my IPAs.

F- Definitely not good. Caramel, weird tropical fruit flavours that combine with the caramel to make some sort of funky blue cheese flavour. I normally like blue cheese, but I like it solid and not in liquid form. A little bit of onion.

M- Medium bodied, dry with fine carbonation. That's about it. Way too bitter for what you get on the flavour profile.

O- I feel robbed having tried this. This is not a good beer by any means unless you like liquid blue cheese. I expect way more out of Cigar City than this.

12 ounce can - canned 3-14-14 - nice, in the can less then a month...

Pours glowing reddish almond amber, lightly hazed. Moderate and relaxed lite oatmeal head, leaves nice lookin fine fields of tiny bubble low sheeting.

Tropical fruity nose with some pine hop notes.

This IPA packs more then a moderate hop package. Robust, fresh and muscular tropical fruit and resinous hop notes abound. Densely hopped right through the finish. Tasty IPA in a can....always a good thing...

12 oz can poured into a snifter. Canned 3/14/14 (a little over 1 month old)

Pours out a nice bright orange color, mostly clear body, maybe the slightest bit of haze. A nice retentive slightly off white head. Very nice lacing clings to the glass.

Not a very exciting aroma. Bright citrus grapefruit rind with a touch of bright tropical fruit. Some bready malts noticeable.

Tart and tangy hop, sharp tropical fruit somewhat similar to pineapple and kiwi, bright citrus character, finishes with a grapefruit citrus rind bitterness. Almost a slight woodiness as it warms.

Medium to light in body. Goes down easy. Leaves a bit of a lingering hop bitterness.

Not a bad beer, but it left a little to be desired. I'd be interested to try other versions of this, but I probably wouldn't buy this one again. Worth a shot if you've never had it. Has a kind of unique tart, tangy hop.

12 oz. can poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep orange body. Small white head. Nice lacing.

Smell - Not a very intense smell. Some grapefruit citrus. Orange. A bit of doughy malt sweetness. Toasty malts, too.

Taste - Grapefruit. Slightly musty. Sweet caramel. Toasted malt. Seems a deeper roasted malt profile than other variants. Grassy bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Bitter. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Decent, but doesn't stand out against the other variants.

A big shout out to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell has some floral notes, a bit of citrus as well. Taste has considerable bitterness, some resin flavors, light malts, a touch of citrus. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but not up to par with some of the other IPA's from this brewery.

Poured from can into snifter...

Dark hazy amber in color. Head is just magnificent. 3in(a little aggressive) Bone to antique white in color. Foamy, rocky, pillows. Lacing down the entire glass, not much glass is seen.

Melon, honeydew, pine hop

Melon, honeydew, bitterness is at a medium, more so in the finish and aftertaste. A good malt bill. Balanced pretty decently with more of an edge to the hop bitterness of a west coast ipa or a cascade hop.

Smooth and creamy. Medium feel, fresh and goes down nice. Lightly carbonated and I mean reaaallll light. Juicy.

A solid ipa. You wont be disappointed in it unless every beer you drink must be better than the last best one you had. Theres plenty of other solid ipas available to you that you'd probably prefer but its worth trying. The biggest thing for me is getting to know different hop types and what I like and this fits the bill. I didn't love it but I didn't loose the house on trying it.
