Dark brown/black opaque, color of old engine oil.
Thin med brown head, very fine, small bubbles.
Nice persistant lace on the inside of a snifter.
Aroma is alchohol with some hop. Slight notes of dark fruit.
Taste is upfront hop bitterness with chocolate coming through also.
Bittnerness lingers a little too long into the finish.
Body is med full to full. Some creaminess, but overshadowed by bitterness/astringency.
Good beer for end of night. Well constructed, but a little much on hop bitterness. Would not drink whole 22oz bottle in one sitting.
This will improve with aging as the flavors meld.
Serving type: bottle
