Poured aggressively into a pint glass.

Pours a clear copper color with a one finger head. Great lacing and decent retention for an IPA. Huge lacing down the entire glass.

On the nose is orange peel, grapefruit, tangerine and other citrus esters. Earthy notes linger in the back and some pine resin begins to come through at the end.

Taste is very citrus forward. Sweet tangerine and bitter grapefruit meld perfectly. Some malt backbone really gives this beer a great balance. Some honey sweetness. Pine bitterness rests on the back of the tongue but its not just a hop bomb. There's a hint of grain/wheat at the very end that was surprising but welcomed as a nice touch for this style.

On the light side of medium bodied but not watery at all. Very nice carbonation. Keeps the flavors alive in your mouth and makes the beer very refreshing.

Very good IPA. Would definitely drink again. Well worth seeking out.

Canned 3/20/14 - Reviewed 21 days later - 4/10/14. Poured into an IPA glass.

A - Light amber, one inch light beige rocky head, great lacing.

S - Moderate tropical fruit medley with a touch of grass in the background.

T - Juicy citrus hop profile. Very light bitterness. Little to no yeast/ malt profile.

M - Medium bodied, excellent carbonation. Refreshing and drinkable.

O - Incredibly flavorful and drinkable IPA. One of the more intensely tropical/citrusy single IPAs out there. An instant classic.

12oz Can

Canned: 3/12/14

Mark passed me a can of Jai Alai last night. Thank again! A surprisingly dark pour for an IPA, burnt orange to be more precise with highlights bordering on red but never quite reaching that point. There's enough haze to keep me from seeing through the body at all. A dirty white head grows to a finger in height before falling to a thick ring that leaves patchy lace.

Buttered biscuits lay a fairly substantial foundation with a nice sweetness. The hop profile seems to be all citrus all the time. Orange and grapefruit, sweetened with brown sugar, are in the forefront with a slight lactic sweetness as well. There is some pine on the backend as well. This IPA is a month old but for some reason I don't get much from the nose. There's some sweetness and some hoppiness but they are hard to pick out and muddled.

The flavor profile is brighter than the nose would suggest but still muddled. Biscuit and caramel maltiness lay it down, both are clean, which is a plus. The hop profile is pretty nondescript, it's citrus, orange and grapefruit but that's it, generic orange and grapefruit, no jam, no pith, no rind. The finish shows a burst of pine with underlying earthiness.

The mouthfeel is the best part of this beer. There's a medium body with snappy carbonation and a growing bitterness I enjoy. The finish is bone dry, accentuating the dryness. The bitterness lingers long after each drink. Nicely done.

Jai Alai is disappointing. I've had this a handful of times in the past, it's been a few years, and remember liking it much more than I do tonight. It's drab, dull, and muddled. I don't think I'd buy this beer in the future. More for everybody else I suppose.
