I picked up a six pack while visiting Florida. Poured from a freshness dated can: bright and deep-golden with small suspended yeast sediment. The slightly off-white foamy head reluctantly receded leaving some intricate lacing on the glass.
There was a very noticeable and pleasant citrus aroma upon opening the can. The enticing aroma remained when poured into the pint glass.
This is the most balanced, yet flavorful, IPA I can recall tasting. Yes, this is a hop forward ale with a very nice but mild bitterness on the palate, yet there is a soft malty flavor that gently washes away the lingering bitterness. The hop profile is largely bittersweet tropical fruit
Very smooth mouth feel with a somewhat light body and gentle carbonation; a faint bitterness lingers on the palate.
I am a little surprised and very pleased with this one. I thought this ale would be a hop bomb with little balance. At 7.5% ABV, this IPA is dangerously quaffable. I am only disappointed it is not available in my area.

Jai Alai is my favorite Florida IPA. I've had Jai Alai on tap at the CCB brewery, as well as on tap at restaurants in the Tampa Area, and from cans in Florida and Atlanta. It's slightly better on tap, but holds up really well in cans.
Appearance: Wonderful orange and copper color. Pours with 2 fingers of foam. Very attractive IPA in the glass.
Smell: Pink Grapefruit and Citrus, with balanced malt. One of my favorite smelling beers.
Taste: Like it smells. Jai Alai is delicious. It's a very well balanced beer that starts with grapefruit and citrus which gives way to smooth malt and finishes bitter and clean . The high ABV (7.5%) is perfectly disguised. It's easy to drink too much!
Mouthfeel: The only knock on Jai Alai in my opinion. It's a little too syrupy This doesn't take away from my enjoyment, and it's minor, but it sticks in my mouth a bit more than I prefer.
Overall, this is my go-to IPA when I can find it. It's not as bitter as a west coast IPA, and not as fruity or juicy as the North East IPAs, but it fits perfectly right in the middle. Jai Alai is an excellent IPA.
