Can dated 4/8/14 into a pint glass.
Look: color of dark apple juice, lots of tiny bubble action, big foamy 1" head.
Smell: funky—and not in a good way. Kind of like, if you crossed a bowling alley with a baseball stadium men's room, maybe? Okay, I just gave my nose a break; on my second go, I get sour (as in, I'd believe this was a sour/wild ale—got this the first time, too), and maybe spoiled white grape juice? Seriously nervous about tasting...
Taste: hold my nose, take a swig, and get... grassy, mildly catty deliciousness! Hallelujah! Not getting a ton of citrus (no, I'm not literally holding my nose), though there is some tangy pineapple on the backend. Pretty tame bitterness, though more pronounced in the aftertaste. Kind of sweet, but not at all cloying, and not overly malty.
Feel: super creamy and smooth, and pretty medium-to-full-bodied for the abv. Maybe the second best mouthfeel of any IPA I've had, behind MBC's Lunch.
Overall: this is definitely a solid IPA. Not a Pliny-killer, but damn fine. Not sure what it is about this beer and my nose, but if it weren't for that element, this would be at least a 4.25 overall.

Hoping that this review is more than just the pangs of nostalgia, I find that Cigar City is a brewery founded upon an eclectic assortment of beer. Jai Alai is a hop head's paradise.
Straight from the can, a delicious beach beer. When poured into a glass and paired with blackened grouper, it's devine. The head is frothy and has staying power. Not to be ignored, the scent is reminiscent of a floral, bright IPA, but with subtle notes of something sweet and alluring... I've read "caramel", but prefer to think it is the aroma of something brewed especially for fairies at play in the land of dreams and sweets and candy.
