Poured into a small heavy crystal mug developing 3/4" of foam which lingered for more than 50 seconds. Lacing developed, and clung to the sides, graphically denoting enthusiastic draughts. The head has different creamy shades of white and varied bubble sizes.

Olfactorily intriguing bowl of tropical fruit inhaled through a filter of juniper and pine. A way of saying imaginary fruit, or exotic fruit, like ripe lychee, or something of mango, even guava. As well, there's this weird watermelon Jolly Rancher thing going on in there. Sweet. Freshly mown hay fields as well. Crackers? No, but perhaps biscuit. Really nice nose. Copper smell upon cracking the can.

Taste is of one adorable IPA goodness with a solid glowing finish, with an enduring bitterness. Dry at the end. Good balance. Good bitterness. I don't lie, jai Alai is very very good. It reminds me of something I drink regularly here in Northern California from the keg. Good with hot spicy food. Holds it's own. Sweet maltiness presence throughout amazed me with the fine balance. Well done.

Mouthfeel is fine. Not overly carbonated. Perhaps more gas would be better? No, this is how I like it. The hop/malt balance is almost perfect, I am blown away, and each gulp is satisfying and filling.

In conclusion, I found this one so damn good that I had to have a second can. It's so good that I am going to look for it.

Poured from a can (dated 11/6/13) into a SA Perfect Pint. Appears a nice copper color, with a thick, fluffy, off-white head that has great retention, and leaves great lacing.

The nose is full of citrus, most notably oranges, along with some grapefruit. There’s some good tropical notes as well, including mango and pineapple. The taste follows right along those lines, with loads of citrus. There’s some sweetness in the background, but the taste is definitely dominated by bitter hops. The finish is very bitter, and lingers for quite a while.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with good active carbonation. There’s a slightly sticky finish, but not overly so. Has a good feel too it, but would like a little less stickiness. Overall, this is a great IPA. Tastes wonderful, even being canned over a month ago. The citrus is just what I expected out of this, and was much more impressive than the pour I had on draft while in Florida.

Loved the beer from the tap in orlando, this review is from the can

The beer pours a coppery/malty looking amber topped by a tightly-packed and thin off-white had that laces. The nose has big caramel, malty sweetness upfront with citrusy hops and a touch of biting booze making noise in the background. The taste is a super balance between assertive, citrusy hops and malt sweetness - there are no lingering unpleasantries. I don't remember the mouthfeel being so balanced and juicy when it was pumped through draught lines @ tgif in Orlando... but the beer's sweet, medium body pushes back hard against the potent, grapefruity hops and linger in harmony with utmost drinkability. I'm really impressed by this beer, though I've had it several times, and would definitely drink again.

Awesome West Coast Style IPA.

Aroma:My 11 year old daughter described the smell as "Fruity" with pineapple, tangerine, and grapefruit that you can smell from 3 feet away.

Taste: The taste is surprisingly refreshing, with all the hops in the aroma I was expecting a bitterness slap right up front, however it is super smooth, fruity with just the right amount of sweetness when it hits your mouth. The bitterness is smooth on the back end with a nice dry finish.

Overall: This has been on my wish list for awhile. I am so glad we can get it in Northern Virginia and hope this means we will get more Cigar City beers up here in the future!!!!

Canned on 10/22/13. Extremely excited to try this as Cigar City now distributes into NYC. Thankfully my local bodega had a not too overpriced (at least by NYC standards) six pack or individual cans for $2.99.

Pours a deep honey color with a two finger head that dissipates fairly quickly. Lacing lingers throughout.

As soon as I opened the can, I was hit with a strong, fragrant pine needle and fresh cut grass aroma. Extremely green. I also got some sweeter citrus notes typical of an IPA.

The first thing I tasted was straight hops. Almost too much but that quickly lead to sweeter tones like pineapple and mango. A delicious sweet tone is complimented by the bitter profile of the hops.

Loved this beer. So happy I finally got to try the hype that is known as Jai Alai. The beer definitely lived up to my admittedly high expectations. Drinking this beer fresh certainly helped but it may very well be the best east coast IPA out there.
