Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into my Bruery snifter.

I don't know what to say that hasn't already been said. This beer is unfiltered, which tastes great but doesn't look as nice as a filtered IPA. There's a ton of tropical fruit that's balanced by piney bitterness and a soft malt backbone. Really creamy mouthfeel - much creamier than most west coast IPAs.

As this beer warms up, the tropical fruit takes the forefront.

Damn this is one delicious IPA. Sweet, creamy malt profile, solid bitterness and delicious floral and tropical flavor bursting through the whole beer. Easily one of the best I've had in recent memory. Another home run from Cigar City.

Appearance: Unfiltered golden body with a 2 inch eggshell white head. Laces great on the glass and head retains well.

Nose: Golden raisins with some spice, citrus hops and tropical fruits.

Taste: Caramel, light grains, some malt and good hop character come through with some pineapple.

Mouth: Flows, just a bit too bubbly

Overall: For a IPA this is great. There could easily be more with this; a bit more in the grain bill and some extra hops would make a great double out of this

A: Golden orange with a large foamy head. Very good retention.

S: Smell is piney, with lots of citruses and tropical fruits.

T: Taste is also fruity (lemon, mango, passionfruit, pineapple, finish on grapefruit). Also piney and resinous. Long lasting bitter aftertaste.

M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. A bit warming for the style, but still very refreshing.

O: A very good IPA, with a good balance between piney and fruity characters. Will have again.

Light amber beer with tinges of red & a foamy, thumb sized white head with good retention.

Strong, pine like hop aroma that has a touches of tropical fruit and citrus throughout. This is followed by some floral notes and a little grapefruit too.

Hops with lots of pine and tropical fruits with a huge bitter kick from the middle until the very end. There is some grapefruit and bitter lemon but not a lot else.

Medium bodied and a tiny bit chewy with huge bitter pine notes that linger long after the drink. The beer is moderately carbonated and goes down well.

I enjoyed this beer but not as much as I was hoping for, I felt that it was just that little bitter too bitter for my liking but still a quality beer.

Bottle says 17 March 2012. Not sure if that's when it was bottled or when it's best by, and an internet search didn't help. It's 27 March today, so this is either really fresh or old.

Nice golden color, hazy. Decent head.

Smells of tropical fruit, melon and pine.

Flavor is a blend of citrus and pineapple notes coupled with some pine. Some caramel as well. Juicy hop flavor is somewhat prickly in the finish.

Medium mouthfeel, medium carbonation.

In all, this is a decent IPA. A bit unique with its fruity notes, which differ from some other IPAs.

Jai Alai into a pint. Didn't think Cigar City had bottling info, but there is a date of 'JAN2012' stamped on the side of the bottle. Not sure if it's a bottle date or a best-by. Hoping it's the former.

Pours a very hazy orange-amber with thinning glow. Puffy, loose head holds just fine. A bit rocky. Didn't lace at all, but I DID just wash the glass. 3.5

Moldy tropical fruits, alfalfa, and lemon. Musty malt wrapping up the nose. Not terribly impressive. 3.5

Earthy bitterness and fruity zing. Nice juicy pineapple middle with some insinuations of papaya or mango. Implied hop fruits have a lot of rind. Reminds me a bit of Two Hearted, but not as floral. Tartness matches the bitterness in the finish. Malts are roasty-toasty for an IPA, not too shabby. 4.0

Feels great. Drinkable as all hell and with a nice flushing spritz. Smooth-bodied and even. 4.5

My first Cigar City brew, and a good one. My only concern is that the bottle was not fresh enough. Still glad to have had. 4.0

Revisiting Jai Alai, this time out of the can. Canned on 11/13/12. Enjoyed on 12/27/12.

Pours a sudsy and sediment-laden orange/amber with a nice and creamy peach-white head. Gave a great starter lace ring with some more residuals stuck to the glass after each big sip. The floaties seem to suspend in the beer uniformly. I didn't realize this was can-conditioned. 3.0

Bright tangerine, melon, and grassy aromas. Pulling through other hop smells of orange and honeysuckle. Honey is an element in the pale malts, as well. Very biscuity and almost lightly caramelized, but still showcasing the citrusy hop nose. Nice. 4.0

Citrus bitter and zingy. Pithy with more grapefruit, tangerine, and honeysuckle coming out over anything else. Lightly floral in flavor with honey malts and biscuity grain. Dry and hempy. Firmly bitter, with some threshold astringency. Citric acidity is nearly balancing. Lots of leafiness from the hops. Clean, bitter finish with a spike in alcohol sustaining its note. 4.0

Fully gulpable. Medium body has some resinous character in feel, but otherwise very smooth. Short, bursty carbonation cuts into each bite, but dispels upon an easy swallow. A nice aspect. 4.0

Very good IPA. Happy to have enjoyed again, and this time, served to me differently. Month-and-a-half age is still something I'd like to cut back on in the future with a fresher bottle or can. Recommended. 4.5
