Pours dark brown in color with a tan head with notes of caramel, toffee, chocolate and toasted bread. Flavors of caramel, toffee and chocolate notes open with interjecting notes of wood and herbal bitterness from English hop varietals then moving back into semi-sweet chocolate, caramel and toffee and is dried out in the finish with toasted malt notes that resemble roast peanuts.

750 ml bottle, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 9%. Dark brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Nutty, malty and moderately roasty aroma and flavour, fairly sweet, rich mouthfeel.

Dark brown pour with tan head, keeps a slight layer. Earthy nose, nuts, mineral and slight caramel. Sweet, toffee, creamy coffee flavors include a fair hop bitterness presence. Full body and average carbonation.

Poured at 48°F from a 22oz bottle (bottled on 06Apr15) into a nonic pint glass. Consumed on 16Jan16.
LOOK: Pours with a fingers worth of khaki foam that dissipates into a quarter fingers worth after 2 minutes. Dark brown in color with an orange tint. There is a subtle amount of both small and medium-sized rising bubbles. Lacing is thin and high.
SMELL: Mild aromas of toffee, caramel, tree nuts, molasses, toast, figs and plums entangle with subtle aromas of sweet chocolate, earthy hops, and spicy hops.
TASTE: Strong flavors of toffee and toast enter initially and are immediately followed by strong flavors of molasses, figs, and plums. Mild tree nut flavors continue the taste theatrical. Mild sweet chocolate flavors and subtle spicy and earthy hops eneter lastly as all previous flavors maintain, except for molasses, which grow slightly stronger.
FEEL: Somewhere between full-bodied and medium-bodied. Carbonation levels are mild. Goes down smooth and creamy while clinging to throat like syrup. Ends with a subtle dryness.
NOTE: Simply the best English Brown Ale that I have had.

Caramel, some spice, tad bit of malt. Mild chocolate and a little bit of coffee. Interesting to see a brown ale with this high of an abv.

Wow....waited a year to crack this one....possibly one of my top ten beers ever. Richness, deep flavors all the way through, the maltiness is incredible. Double nut brown. ...double good!
