Interesting beer. Thanks retorp for the share. Pours dark drown with an off-white head. Aroma is chocolate, smoke, vanilla, and malt. Flavor is wood, with some maple and vanilla, and a slight fruit presence. Medium to full body and very enjoyably complex beer.

from notes

dark as night, maybe a half inch head on top. This faded quickly leaving nothing but some residual lace on the side of the glass. Not alot of visible carbonation.

Alot of alcohol mixed in with an oak and alot of sweet smells. Some caramel and a touch of some hosp perhaps. Very intresting smell, almost had a syrup like aroma. big malt back. Lots of sweet tones, again had a syrup like taste, lots of earthy flavors, and a nice maple and vanilla tone. Vanilla became more pronounced as it warmed, but was never bothersome. chocolate and hints of dark fruit and bourbon, tobacco and leather as you warm. A little syrupy like, not too bad, and not too thick, but there was a real lack of carbonation, whuch could have helped the flavors get that little extra pop if it was there.

Bottle courtesy of JRedner. Pours a dark brown to black color with a thin tan head. Aroma is bourbon, malt, dark chocolate, some ripe dark fruit, oak, vanilla. Flavor is malty and woody with notes of caramel, toffee, coffee, vanilla, some earthiness. Generally medium to full bodied with a pleasing roasted finish.

A HUGE thanks goes out to Joey for sharing this one with me. This one was put together for a Beer Advocate event at the Oldsmar TapHouse and served on draft. I missed the event, and Joey gave me one of the precious few bottles that they had done.

A: Pours a very evil deep dark black hue. The head is towering. It is very spongy and deep brown like you would find on quality mocha. The head bubbles and fizzes as it builds like a witches caldron. It builds and builds before quickly dying leaving a brew that is matte black in color. Some light lacing is noted as this one disappers.

S: Bold aromas waft from the glass. This beer was created by blending 5 of their other beers together and notes of each can be detected. To call the aroma intoxicating would be an understatement. Tons of sweet chocolate seems to swirl into fresh espresso. Oak and vanilla come next with notes of fine bourbon whiskey. Man I wish I had a corney keg full of this one, if I did I would be set for awhile.

T: Wow, the aromas really transfer into the taste. Nice roasted malt up front with layer after layer of chocolate. Coffee comes next only to be overpowered by wood....both oak and cedar. Vanilla pushes its way thru only to be overtaken by bourbon whiskey goodness. A touch of smoke rounds things out. To call this beer complex would be an understatement.

M: Full in body, velvety smooth, with wonderful carbonation. The flavors really cling to the mouth and throat adding to full enjoyment.

D: So drinkable this is the third Cigar City Brew that I would label as Out Of This World.

Joe and Wayne you have outdone yourself. Would love to have a few more bottles of this one to sit on for a few years. Can't wait for its release along with the release of Zhukov's.

Who else but my boy Greg to hook me up with this new brew from the new brewery known as Cigar City.

12 oz. hand bottle poured into a snifter.

Pours like a dark black hole with a whispy 1/4 finger brownish colored head that quickly dies to a ring of thin bubbles. A few clingy bubbles here and there hold on to the sides of the glass, but not many. Smell is rich and malty with a big nutty backbone. Chocolate covered raisins, gooey molasses, and some vanilla in the aroma as well. Very big and bold in the nose for sure. The taste follows the smell, but is a step up believe it or not. Rich chocolate and caramel malts with a sweet espresso undertone. Midway a good smokey flavor emerges with a lot of dark fruity goodness and bourbon. Aftertaste consists of brown sugar, vanilla and coffee beans, and a bit more smoke. Just so much for the tongue to process, and all of it is sooo good. Full bodied beer with a thick and chewy feel. Carbonation is pretty low, but I like it like that with this beer. It's not boozy by any means, combine that with the amazing flavors and it makes Capricho Oscuro scary drinkable. Thank you so much Greg for giving me the opportunity to try this beer. I have a couple more from these guys waiting for me in the fridge which I'll definitely be consuming very soon :)

Had this at the Oldsmar Taphouse for their one year anniversary. Thank you Tony.

Poured dark brown/black, almost opaque. Very thin dark tan head. Nice lace on sides of glass.

Very strong, unique aroma. Port/Sherry like, malty, dark fruits - a lot going on here. Reminds me of the brown licorice sticks we had as kids.

Flavor is fantastic, very complex. Malty, dark fruits, definately pick up the oak flavors, sherry/port, nice roastiness, chocolate notes. Slight bitterness is roasted malt, not hop derived. Alchohol evident, but not hot.

Medium to medium full bodied, very velvety.
Slighty dry finish.

A phenomenal, world class beer. Proud to see this from Tampa. Fantastic job Wayne and Joey.
Can't wait to taste the rest of the offerings!
