2011 Vintage poured into a snifter.
A: Pours a dark, inky black with a dark frothy head that slowly dissipates.
S: Notes of chocolate, cocoa, sweet chili, alcohol with a strong malt backbone.
T: Starts with a dusty chocolate up front, followed by a chili heat in the back of the throat which is still balanced by a sweetness that permeates the mouth. Lastly, there is some alcohol heat that hits the back of the throat and causes a brief resurgence of the earlier flavors.
M: Thick body, but avoids being syrupy. The balance of complex flavors keeps it from being cloying in a very different way.
O: A very unique stout, but a very good one too. Bold, complex flavors take a familiar style and make it into something exceptional.
