750ml 2013 bottle poured into tulip 14/12/13, REVIEW # 2000!!!! I hope this ones worthy of such a milestone, big Cheers to the most awesome Rutager for the bottle
A black liquid right out of the bottle, just a thumbnail of cola for an edge when held to the light, shes dark alright, even the foams dark, three fingers worth falls after a few sips leaving no lace much to my surprise, second pours no different with nothing sticking
S bakers chocolate, coco, a little char, chilli peppers, cinnamon sticks, peppermint, molasses, faint vanilla, a little espresso, smells a little woody but I as far as I know this isn't barreled, just a hint of booze and plenty more chocolate
T some unburnt cigarette tobacco, (yes I've actually tasted a ciggy...don't ask questions!) strange fruity notes I can't quite place, and everything I smell, rich as all hell and the booze is gone, terrific stuff!!
M faint heat builds but never really accumulates to much, thick liquid, mellow carbonation stops short of creamy, peppers and chocolate syrup just keep going on the finish, and my lips almost stick together
O before this hit my glass I was impressed, the second I cracked the bottle I could smell the chocolate and I could see the darkness before the stream out of the bottle hit my glass, sexy at every turn
I almost feel guilty drinking this one by myself, "almost" being the operative word, quite worthy of the 2000 milestone. The warming chilli works great with this Alberta Winter evening but I couldn't imagine drinking this in the hot humidity of Florida

Just attended the festival this past weekend and it was worth the hype. I had the opportunity to try a 2011 at the event and most everyone I spoke with said that this years batch is just phenomenal. The beer is darker than anything I have ever had before and the subtle notes of chili are apparent along with the dark coffee taste. I am extremely thankful that I brought enough home with me to enjoy one every couple of months.

Pours thick, like used motor oil, with a temporary dark brown head.
The aroma is layered and complex without any one component overriding another. Rich roasty chocolate, ash, soft vanilla, charcoal, and spice all blend together nicely. It's actually a little hard to describe.
The taste is smoky with dark cherry, plum, chocolate and coffee, with a little sweetness mid-palate and the spice from the chiles comes in late and hits the sides of the mouth.
Slight viscosity and low carbonation work well in this stouts case. I think it would be weird if it were creamier or heavily carbonated.
Very nice, possibly a tad overrated, but worth a try for any beer nerd.

A - Pours black with a finger of dark tan head that fades into a thin ring with no lacing.
S - Incredibly complex, there is a ton of chocolate, caramel, chili peppers, cinnamon, molasses and brown sugar. A lot of coffee in here as well. Smells massively sweet and rich.
T - Complex taste, lots of chocolate all over this one and the slight burn from the chili is somewhat rather satisfying was very surprised. Taste is great.
M - Nice smooth creamy thick feel with low carbonation. Sticky sweet coating on the tongue. Outstanding
O - The best non-barrel aged stout in the world. I could drink this all day. What a genius move to use chili peppers in a chocolaty rich stout. Wish I had another bottle.

Good god this beer was delicious. Drank at a perfect cellar temperature, the vanilla comes right out and smacks you in the nose. The smell is sweet like a chili infused milkshake (hmmmm) and i have to say, this beer was about as viscous as a milkshake too.
The only thing that made it tough to knock down was that it was still a bit hot. Not that it was unexpected but it definitely made it a little less drinkable. I worked on my bottle over 3 days... I hope to try this beer with even a little bit of age on it... i think it will be unbelievable...

2010 Vintage poured into a large snifter
A - Thick, dark black color. Nice 1-finger tan/caramel head. After a nice swirl you can notice a reddish tint to it. Possibly from the cinnamon or chiles.
S - Can smell all of the dark fruits associated with this stout. There is a slight hint of chiles along with the cocoa and vanilla.
T - Such a smooth, creamy stout. You can really taste the sweetness of the dark fruits and cocoa. Again the hint of chiles is there despite it being almost 2 years old. Very complex. Really is amazing.
M - Like I said before, very creamy feel. Slight stickiness. Exactly what you would expect after with the appearance, smell, and taste.
O - One of my top 3 favorite beers. This one being 2 years old, can only imagine what a fresher version would be like with the extra pop of chiles and cinnamon as I am sure this one had mellowed a bit. I cannot wait to try more in the future. Awesome.
