The Maduro pours dark, with a hint of reddish orange at the edges in the light. Head is a beige topping of foam with small to medium bubbles that fades without too much expediency.
As I pull the glass to my nose I am initially greeted with a metallic odor that I cannot quite place. It isn't particularly pleasing to me, although the remainder of the malts do prevent the smell from being too distracting.
Flavor is better than the smell, with a sweet malty taste up front, followed by a medium backbone of citrus-like hops and finally ending with that same malt on the tongue.
Mouthfeel is perhaps livelier than I am used to for a Brown ale, but smooth nonetheless.
Overall a medium quality Brown ale that I am glad I had the chance to try, although I won't kill myself to get more of.
