12 oz. bottle dated Nov 2011; pours a clear, light brown head with a red tint. A one-finger tan head dissipates fairly quickly leaving only a small bit of lacing.

Nice aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. The aroma sticks around for quite a while and doesn't fade.

The flavor is similar to the aroma and features a little more of the roasted malt than the coffee and chocolate, bringing just a bit of bitterness to the flavor; which is a good thing. The flavor has a sweet finish.

Light to medium mouthfeel. Overall, very drinkable and a solid brown ale.

Poured on tap at the Cigar City tasting room in Tampa.

A: Brown with a good amount of light coming in on the edges. Topped with a light tan head.

S: Smell was very faint, bet there are are some roasty notes in there.

T: Pretty nondescript. Very drinkable and smooth but nothing very special to be found tastewise. Just a very solid beer. Some roast in the back. Dark bread.

Overall a good solid beer, but could have used a bit more in the taste dept.

Maduro pours out a dark, cloudy, but not completely opaque beer. It's topped with a light mocha brown head which leaves decent lacing.

The beer gives off a fresh aroma of freshly baked sugar cookies, molasses, brown sugar, and slight honey-like notes.

Flavor of this beer is full, and the first thing I pick up is gingerbread. Light floral notes mid palate and a sort of sweeter finish bring some of that brown sugar/molasses flavor out from the aroma. Bitterness is present, and higher than expected for a brown ale, yet the malt still is king of the carnival.

It's a bit chalky in texture, but not necessarily dry. Carbonation is plentiful, and supports the full body of this beer very well.

It's surprisingly drinkable for what I get out of it in taste and feel. It seems like the alcohol should be higher, but it's good as is.

Enjoyed in a pint glass

A: pours a medium brown with a slight amber hue that is perfectly clear with a very thin layer of medium tan head that dissipates immediately, leaves minimal lacing
S: pretty good scent here, nice maltiness, slight woodiness and a bit of a sweet character
T: taste is pretty much perfectly in line with the scent, begins with the scent, slight chocolate malts, nice malty character which intensifies and becomes deeper longer into the sip, leaves a great warm malt taste on the mouth
M: medium carbonation, nice and thick character, leaves the mouth with a nice silky feeling
O: a really nice brew, delicious, pretty clearly high quality ingredients, big fan

A 75 cl bottle just for me...

A: Pour is deep brown with a medium-large pale brown creamy head that sinks into nice lacings.

S: Chocolate-malt together with very American hops; piney and citric. Sweet, roasted and nutty. Pineapple, grapefruit and orange sezt.

T: Dry and sweet at the same time. Chocolate malt, roasted. Some vanilla - oak. Strong black coffee. Again the American hops. A bit smoked.

M: Long aftertaste, bitter chocolate with slightly sweet notes. Body is full while carbonation is moderate.

O: Strange - a very nice beer, but I'm having difficulties to call this a Brown Ale. My guess would have been a (messed-up, but still a) Porter.
