Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: ClockworkOrange on 02-04-2009

Dark in color with a ruby hue with forward notes of chocolate and caramel and light toffee notes in the aroma. Flavor has big notes of bittersweet chocolate with notes of caramel and toffee and moderate hop bitterness and more caramel and toffee and slight hints of char. A big take on a classic style.

A-Black in the glass, but clear amber brown when pouting.

S-Chocolate and some coffee dominate with a little bit of roasted malt.

T-Starts with a nice chocolate flavor and a nice bit of coffee. Some brown sugar and roasted malt as well.

M-Lighter, not much carbonation and a tad watery.

O-The flavor is good but the watery mouthfeel detracts.

12oz can into a pint glass
canned on: 8/7/14

Thanks to allisonmichelle for sending this one over as an extra

A: Pours an opaque black with 3 fingers width of tan colored head. Head dissipates down fairly slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. 4.25

S: Semi-sweet cocoa, blonde roast coffee, lactose-like heavy cream. Straightforward, but just what a basic porter should be IMO. 4.25

T: Similar too, but not as good as the aroma. Decent amount of black coffee bitterness, lactose, cream, and subtle chocolate. 4

M/D: Medium body, carbonation higher than I like in the style, drinkability is good. 3.75

O: Pretty good standard porter. Not mind blowing, but certainly above average. 4

Tasted from can. Possibly my favorite straight porter of all time. Creamy mouthfeel. Fantastic balance and a long, interesting finish. Highly recommend.
