Tremendously aromatic brew. The next county over can tell this is cedar aged. Pour is hazy for an IPA, dark orange or grapefruit in color. Aroma is like a cedar mill aged in cedar casks with extra cedar juice. Slight tinges of citrus and hop oils behind that. Taste is fresh hop leaf on a bed of cedar chips. A distinctive taste for this IPA, which is rare these days, as so many are good but copycats with little variation. Finish is dry and bitter with some citrusy hop flavors. A true original here. Wouldn't mind putting down a bottle or two to see how the aggressive cedar flavor changed.

12 oz can(!); canned March 2014; served in a lager glass.
A: Excellent semi-creamy head over a deep amber liquid full of suspended particles.
Very hoppy aroma of the piney/citrus persuasion. Mild bitterness for style, with some nice cedar wood aging effects.
Feel: smooth and full for style.
O: tamer, more interesting, and easier to drink than the very fine Jai Alai Ale that serves as the base.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Reviewed from notes from 2012.
Appearance - Light copper colored. White head. Sticky looking with a ton of lace.
Smell - Tons of grapefruit hops. The cedar aroma adds to the pungency of the grapefruit. Some caramel malts.
Taste - Fresh grapefruit hops. Intense cedar. The cedar pairs very well with the grapefruit hops. Slightly sweet pale malt in the back. Bitter finish with an intense woody cedar lingering aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Medium body. Medium carbonation. A little bit creamy.
Overall - I don't really like cedar in most beers, but this works well.
