Our flagship beer in the Humidor Series is Humidor Series India Pale Ale. We start with Jai Alai IPA as a base beer and add the cedar during secondary fermentation. The cedar provides a perfect balance with the assertive hops of Jai Alai to create an entirely new experience.

A - Pours a hazy amber-orange, beautiful lacing.

S - Orange, grapefruit, cedar. It all adds up to an aroma near to sinsemilla.

T - Wow... sinsemilla again, in a good way. This is a very complex beer.

M - Refreshing. Makes you look forward to the next sip.

D - I loved this beer. It rivals the best IPA's I've ever had, bar none.

A: I love the hazy unfiltered appearance, but to some i understand it can be off putting.

S: Smell is perfect. the amazing smell that accompanies a fresh Jai Alai but with the complexity of the unique cedar infusion.

T: Just great. this is a beer i get something different out of every time i drink one. its like great record, always something to discover in this complex beauty.

O: One of my favorite CCB beers. Key is dont wait on this one. hops seem to fade fast. the complexity and uniqueness of this beer is one in a million.

This beer is amazing.

A - Nice, foamy head with a light amber color. Impressive.

S - Cedar, Pepper, subtle smoke and tobacco.

T - Wow. Lots of flavors as described in the nose. Mostly the Spanish Cedar and Pepper are predominant, with a nice balance of hops and a slight bitterness as expected by the Jai Lai IPA. The palate is well balanced and the finish has me craving more. I'm not sure if this could be any better.

M - Medium bodied, nothing too over-bearing. I'm not sure if this could be anymore well balanced.

D - Give me another bomber please.

I think any experienced beer aficionado will appreciate and understand the magnitude of how wonderful this beer is. The Spanish Cedar really provides personality that easily conquers any other wood dominant beer that I've ever had. Easily one of my top ten favorite beers. Exceptional job, Cigar City. As usual.

Poured into a Sierra Nevada pint glass. No freshness date on the label or bottle but the sticker put on by the liquor store says 12/22/2011.

A- Pours a dark amber color with a one and a half finger head that retains like a champ before finally residing at a 1/4 inch head with nice lacing and spots of foam on the surface indicating healthy yeast.

S- Oh God. Smells like literally stepping into a humidor. Wood-laced tobacco aroma that blends beautifully with fresh, peppery hops.

T- It's like taking a bite out of a cigar box which I view as a good thing. Massive rushes of black pepper and cedar which suit the particular types of hops used to perfection.

M- Prickly and a bit dry but it doesn't bring the drinkability down at all. High carbonation also helps round out the flavor profile to its excellent standing.

O- It just doesn't get much better than this. Even my girlfriend, who almost never likes IPAs, enjoys the hell out of this. This was the first Cigar City brew I ever had and it was love at first sip.

Served at cellar temp and poured from a bomber into a SA perfect pint glass. Pours rich and clear orange, then cloudy from the yeast sediment, which to me enhances the flavor. Thick 2 finger white head.

Wow - strong grapefruit peel aroma. Hint of cigar box from the cedar. Spicy woody hops on tongue. Earthy flavors - cedar nuances on tongue - really nice touch. Pleasantly bitter on back and sides of tongue. Great malt/hop balance.

Really complex - love this beer. An IPA in a league of its own. True this brew whenever you can.

A - Awesome white fluffy head. Perfect looking head. Great lacing. Brew is cloudy orange with lots of yellow and some reds too.

S - Lots of huge cedar notes. Some nice brown sugar, citurs, and orange. Pepper and spice galore. Yum.

T - Whoa! Very unique! Great huge unique wood flavor... Silky and smooth. Citrus is very mild, yet aggressive and forward.

M - Perfect. Bitterness is perfect for an IPA. Carbonation is also done well. Very nice body, thick for an IPA.

O - Great brew. Very unique. CCB really showed me something with this fine brew. I would love to try more of their specialties, keep em coming Matt, you badass. Thanks for sharing, don't worry I also shared... Cheers.

Big thanks to mikesgroove for this amazing brew!

Porange hazy orange with a big thick sticky head. Smells awesome with the cedar nose I was expecting. Taste is unlike anything I've had before. Nice bitter hop bite with tropical fruit then finishes dry with cedar aftertaste. More beers should be aged in cedar because this just adds a great dimension to the overall flavor. This is a spectacular beer!!

Pours a hazy orange with a one finger head. Not quite opaque and I do not see any chunks of yeast. I smell cedar first and foremost followed by grapefruit and mango. Incredible aroma. The taste is perfect. The cedar hits first and then morphs into a nice grapefruit and mango combo that leaves a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is like silk. The carbonation is light to medium. Drinkability is OK, but I can finish the bottle myself due to how good this beer really is. Overall, the most complex IPA I have had to date. This is definitely not for everyone, but it is definitely a must try for any IPA fan. Very unique and finally an extreme beer that Sam hasn't thought of. A must try!

Had this one several times, just getting around to review. Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at CCB tasting room.

A: Clear amber to copper in color. Forms a one finger white head. Some visible carbonation here.

S: Woody, cedar, grapefruit and tropical fruit hops.

T: Really good. The cedar compliments the IPA character wonderfully. There is citrus (grapefruit, lemon, orange), and sweet malt flavor underneath. No alcohol presence to speak of. Finish is dry, and the dryness of the cedar fights with the hop bitterness in the hang.

M: Nice, not overly heavy mouthfeel. There is noticeably less carbonation in this pour than others I've had.

O: I can understand why some may not prefer this beer. The cedar flavor certainly comes on strong. But, I absolutely love it and the cedar flavor works SO well with the IPA style. If you haven't had the opportunity to try this yet, I would suggest you seek it out.

Hooked up with this on a trade from Afksports. Thank you sir.

Enjoyed this with a few buddies at a mini tasting.
For the record,we were using plastic cups so we could discard after each beer.

Poured a hazy amber caramel color with a nice head. Some descent lacing.

Smell. Hmmm is that cedar in my beer? Smells glorious. The cedar comes right through on the front end. Some nice floral hints follow. If this was a woman I'd want to make out with her based on smell alone.

Taste. Ka pow. Cedar baby, cedar. Tropical hoppy floral notes. A touch of creamy caramel. Damn.

Mouthfeel. Smooth. A touch creamy. My cup felt like it was carbonated like a soda pop. That spells trouble for me. Down the hatch it goes.

Drinkability. I do believe I could session this regularly.

Overall. Ladies and gentleman we have a winner here. A fantastic find and I am eager to get my grubby mits on some more. Is there other CC offerings that stack up to this? If so I need to do some exploring.

A: extreme likeness to apple cider in consistency and clarity, very thin foam head coats surface.

S: unlike any IPA i've ever smelled, hops peek out from a barleywine and cedar backbone.

T: an exceptional blast of quality hops that are supported by a flavorful cast of dark fruits (plums, grapes, figs) and a dry wood aftertaste.

MF/D: tickles the tongue with cool bubble, leaves a warm dry finish... easily enjoyable alone but more fun with friends. certainly dont mind the cedar aging. the subdued hops are a fresh, but pleasant, change of pace from west coast IPA's.

Cigar city recently expanded their brewing capacity, and the 750ml bottle of Humidor series IPA that I got to try in Long Island NY is a direct result of that. THANK YOU!

I absolutely loved this IPA.

A - A stunning mahogany-apricot. Smooth and creamy head with great retention. One of the best looking IPA's I've ever seen.

S - Grapefruit laced with light resiny cedar

T - It's bursting with citrus. I couldn't believe how clear the flavors were. The profile includes some bitter-boozy Campari, but is dominated by sweet white grapefruit and blood orange. Clean cedar flavors play a supporting role, and aren't one of those "in your face because I'm on the label" flavors. Smooth malt shows up early in the mid profile and hangs around to tie everything together. Very well done.

M - Smooth, medium body. Mild effervescence with a light boozy feel.

D - Very drinkable for the style. IPA's can wear out your palate in a hurry, but the juicy citrus of the beer kept me coming back for more.

O - A delicious, edgy IPA that pushes the style in directions other than the IBU arms race that's dominated American IPAs over the past few years. Cigar City - keep up the good work!

On-cask at Datz Deli, served with Sunday brunch.

A - It appears an iced tea hue, way cloudy (turbid), no head. On par with the cask norm.

S - Smells of humidor cedar, apple cinnamon, and black pepper.

T - Tastes of super humidor cedar, less black pepper than usual, lots of tobacco notes. Outstanding!

M - It appears still and does have a scant level of carbonation. And yet it works so well.

D - An amazing brew, this Humidor IPA; it is the soul of Tampa, fermented.

Poured from a 32oz growler into a CCB snifter. My experience with this fresh from the source is substantially different from my bottled experience, thus the re-review (I tend not to review the same beer bottled and tap unless there's a noticeable difference between the two).

Pours a great hazy red color crested with a good two fingers of head that retains nicely. Absolutely huge chunks of lace make their way down the glass. There's quite a bit of apparent carbonation. The aroma is awesome, fresh zesty hops pair perfectly with the Spanish cedar. This has a lot more hop presence than the bottles I've had. The pungent hop strike sticks around for quite a bit until the second dimension comes into play - the Spanish cedar. This is a highly aromatic wood, and keeping my nose in the snifter after sipping brings the cedar much more forward. The cedar completely covers up the malts, which almost pushes the hops even more forward than in the base Jai Alai, with a very interesting backend. The cedar is much more prominent in the bottled brew I've had, this is surely more hop-forward. The aftertaste is a great spicy hop with just an bit of cedar.

The mouthfeel is nice, it's nice and sticky with a medium body and a fairly high amount of carbonation. The drinkability is absolutely exceptional. Overall, this is just a great beer. It's a great twist on the traditional IPA that any hop head should adore. I enjoyed this a lot more fresh from the source than bottled.

Poured into cigar city snifter. Smell has many piny citrus and hoppy notes. Great overall rush of hops and nice dark orange look with the Cedar flavor being very apparent. This is another huge hit for me and further proves why Cigar City is one of the best breweries in the country. Overall a very enjoyable beer and plan on drinking whenever I find it available. 750ml bottle from the brewery.

Pours into my snifter a deep vibrant orange with great clarity and two fingers of creamy white head that lingers and leaves sticky lacing on the side of my glass. Aromas are quite unlike anything I've had before. An amalgamation of spicy cedar wood that enters the nostrils much akin to opening a humidor and juicy, tropical fruit hop tones. Grapefruit and herbal hop resins abound. Nice caramel malt background. Really love the aroma.

First sip brings an upfront mix of spicy cedar wood and tropical, citric hops. Somewhat earthy and peppery with a nice dose of herbal, grassy hop resins. Caramel rides in the backbone. Solid bitterness, the cedar and hops mix lingers on after each sip. Yum.

Mouthfeel is both smooth and creamy. Good carbonation and perfect balance that makes drinking a breeze. Overall, wasn't sure what to expect of this, but it delivered. The cedar aging really adds a great twist to an already awesome IPA. Now I just have to figure out how to get more!

On tap at CCB tap takeover at OTC.

A: Nice looking amber color. Small white head with excellent lacing and retention.
S: The first thing I got was fruits. Grapefruit, orange, peaches, pineapple and mango. It was backed up by a sweet cedar smell. This smells amazing.
T: Taste is malty sweetness with some fruity hoppy bitterness. A bit piney that I imagine comes from the cedar ageing.
M: Medium mouthfeel with low carbonation. A bit sticky but overall very drinkable.
O: This was easily my favorite beer of the night. It's very mellow compared to other huge IPAs, just extremely well balanced and drinkable.

Recieved this awesome beer in a trade from Immortale25.

Poured into a Founders tulip glass

Pours a cloudy orange color with a 1 finger off white head.

The smell on this beer is amazing! It's like smelling a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

The taste on this incredible. Lots of citrus taste. I can taste the orange, grapefruit, and maybe some peach. Not a bitter hop forward brew, but a very tasty easy drinking IPA. I love it. A little less carbonation would have made this a perfect beer.

Overall I would buy this again and again. Very well done!

Picked up a 750 ml bottle in Brandon FL, had some at the tap room too, liked it a lot...

Pours a chill hazed amber with 2 fingers of rocky cream colored head. Superior head retention & average lacing

S: Much woodyness & some grapefruiit & peppery notes. I LOVE the nose on this!

T: Follows the nose, some honey malt & breadyness as well. Grapefruit, honey malt & cedar woodyness are the main players as this warms, some pineyness too at the back of the throat. Finishes woody, dry, grapefruiity & wth some honey sweetness, plus just a hint of booze warmth

MF: Medium biodied creamy, nice balance & warming sensation

I like the way this is drinking, have had some cedar aged beers like Boulevard's Seeyoulater dopplebock, where I wasn't thrilled with the results. This is a nice variant on the straight up jai lai, which is also top notch in my book as well. I think this presented much better as a bottled beer for that's worth... This one really worked for me

Happy to pick this one up along with some 110K+OT batch #3, also happy to receive my Sierra Nevada XXX glass in the mail today (unfortunately I wont be cracking another one of those open for a little while).

A: Poured into my new SNXXX bubble glass, this beer pours an opaque golden rod yellow with a fluffy tan head that is quick to dissipate. I would rate this brew higher on appearance, but the head is a little too weak for another .5 points.

S: The aroma on this brew is amazing. I'm giving it a 5 for uniqueness. This is my first cedar aged beer, and I can see why they call this the Humidor Series. It literally has notes of fresh cigars in a humidor. Very earthy, woody, peppery. The aroma is just fresh, one of the freshest smelling beers I have. Behind all that is a slight layer of citrus.

T:The hop bite is present, but tamed by the cedar aging. The flavor follows suit with the tobacco notes in the aroma. Nutty, woody and smokey. For an IPA this brew is well balanced with a strong, but relaxed malt character. I sense a light sweetness, but the malt significantly adds to the body.

M: The mouthfeel is well carbonated and full. Chewy at times.

D: Drinkability....I'm gonna rate this beer on how satisfied I am after one, and that is very satisfied. This brew has the complexity of a big beer that I want, with a fairly moderate ABV. I am a fan of cigars. There are a lot of topics in the forums about pairing beers and cigars, and my personal opinion is that it should never be done. Both of them cancel out the flavor experience that is unique to them both. Humidor Series IPA is the ticket if you want to experience a cigar and beer all in one without sacrificing either's quality of the experience.

32 oz growler, from CCB draft room.
Poured into SN Snifter

A: 2 fingers creamy off white carbonated head, tight bubbles, leaves nice lacing on the sides of the glass. Appearance is similar to normal jai alai, ambery orange color, some nice bubbles on the bottom of the glass. Head stays around for a while, looks really really nice

S: Mango, Citrus, Pine, with a slight caramel and a full bodied bready malt smell emanate from the glass. slight alcohol is present. some slight woody, earthy notes are present.

T: Really sweet and malty upfront like honey, then a wave of delicious piney, citrusy, mangoey, pineappley hops comes crashing through. Finish is really really nice, nice and dry with a lingering sweet, earthy, vanilla-y wood taste from the cedar. Wow. there is a slight burn from the alcohol but it's well masked.

M: Full bodied, this one is a sipper but it is nice. The carbonation lingers and tickles your tastebuds. not too heavy, but on the heavy side for an IPA.

O: despite its (miiniscule) flaws, this is an amazing beer, you really can't ask for much more. Everyone praises DFH for experimentation but look no further for the king, than in florida at CCB, for their Firkin's and wood aged beers are some of the most flavorful, fun, and awesome beers I've ever tasted

Thanks to Gtreid for sending this one my way. I split the bottle two ways into strait pints. There was a generous two finger white fluffy head that lasted quite some time and the lace followed the beer wonderfully down the glass. The body of the brew was hazy darker orange in color.

I was quite impressed at what the cedar ageing has accomplished with this brew I had the most intense pepper aromas I have ever experienced in an IPA. The citrus and fresh grass aromas' I typically expect were there too. The flavors were Intense as well that pepper being right up front with a nice bitter and a slight malt sweetness to balance this brew out. It had a medium body with nice dry finish and great carbonation.

I really enjoyed this brew and hated to see the glass go. I would easily buy or trade for this brew again. Great job Cigar City
