Notes/Commercial Description:
Our flagship beer in the Humidor Series is Humidor Series India Pale Ale. We start with Jai Alai IPA as a base beer and add the cedar during secondary fermentation. The cedar provides a perfect balance with the assertive hops of Jai Alai to create an entirely new experience.

750mL bottle poured into a tulip. Thanks to Matt for sharing!

(A)- Pours a slightly hazed goldenrod yellow/orange color. Some decent white froth and lacing.

(S)- Very woody. I can see how much the cedar is playing a role in this beer. Citrus gets kind of lost in the deep cedar and pine notes.

(T)- Again, intense notes of the cedar and pine. Some citrus is there, but it sure gets lost behind all the wood.

(M)- A good carbonation level. I appreciate the nuance of the cedar in this, but it really overwhelms the rest of the beer's profile.

(O)- I always appreciate and enjoy different ways to make the same beer, but I think in this instance, it gets lost behind all the wood characters.

Recieved this awesome beer in a trade from Immortale25.

Poured into a Founders tulip glass

Pours a cloudy orange color with a 1 finger off white head.

The smell on this beer is amazing! It's like smelling a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

The taste on this incredible. Lots of citrus taste. I can taste the orange, grapefruit, and maybe some peach. Not a bitter hop forward brew, but a very tasty easy drinking IPA. I love it. A little less carbonation would have made this a perfect beer.

Overall I would buy this again and again. Very well done!

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/17/2012. Pours extremely hazy orange amber color with a nice 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big orange, mango, orange rind, grapefruit, pineapple, caramel, cedar, floral, grass, toast, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great hop complexity and good balance. Lots of sweet hops with minimal pine or spiciness balance. Taste of big orange zest, pineapple, grapefruit, orange rind, caramel, floral, grass, toast, light cedar, light pine, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of citrus bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pineapple, caramel, toast, light pine, grass, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance of hop flavors with a nicely balanced malt backbone; zero cloying flavors noticed after the finish. Cedar wasn’t too noticeable, but it probably also smoothed out the beer flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy, lightly slick, and crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with pretty much zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent IPA! Great hop complexity and flavor balance; very smooth and easy to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering as I expected.

Cigar City Humidor Series IPA

A- cloudy amber/orange with a big fluffy slightly off white head. Lacing all the way down the glass.

S- the smell is great. A lot of passion fruit, pineapple, mango. Really like a sweet tropical fruit salad.

T- it tastes the same as the smell. The hop flavors are on the fruity/aromatics side with a bunch of tropical fruits. Has a slight hop bitterness to balance it out. I'm not sure if I tasted the cedar.

M- medium mouthfeel, a bit sticky, bit low on carbonation (it needed more). Has kind of a fuzzy fruit nectar mouthfeel. Very drinkable.

O- I liked this beer a lot. It's not an IPA for hop heads. It's a very mellow laid back type of IPA. I like that its a bit more about the flavor of the beer without trying to crank up the hops. Very good, very drinkable.

Poured a half inch head and has an off orange color. The smell is a nice lemony, malty, hoppy aroma. A very nice smell. This is my first oak aged IPA and really like the tongue. It begins with a grapfruit hoppy taste, moves into a bit of malts and finishes as it begins with the same grapefruit hops. The mouthfeel is medium. Overall dig this one and wish I could find it locally. Picked up a bomber while in Tallahassee, Fl. Should have gotten a few. Will do when in the area again. Very nice offering from the Cigar City folks.

Bottle thanks to robinsmv, poured into a pint glass.

Pour: Hazy amber with three fingers of off white, nearly tan head. Definitely some floaties. Okay lacing. Head hangs around.

Smell: Slight citrus tartness, LOTS of cedar. Some grapefruit in there, but a very woody aspect prevails.

Taste: Very woody cedar up front, followed by some pine and grapefruit. Malt has a slight caramel aspect. Finishes with more cedar spiciness.

Mouthfeel: Nice and dry from the cedar, moderate carbonation. Bitterness stops it from being very drinkable, despite the cedar aging, so this one takes a little while to get through

Overall: Very interesting, and definitely better than white oak.

A : Poured a dark orangish color, cloudy with amber/brownish highlights. A moderate white head sits at the top which fades leaving some white bubbles and faint lacing

S: Definite cedar, some boiled vegetables, a little bit of spice and thats about all folks

T: Not exactly sure what is happening here. Moderate cedar taste upfront which then seems to grow as I swallow. There is a light spice to it and some citrus is barely noticable. The finish is more cedar, a bit tannic with more cedar, Earthiness on the finish

M: Medium bodied, a little low on carbonation perhaps, the cedar notes really kill this beer.

O: I ahd a Jai Alai just before this and I swear I could not find one single distinguishing note from Jai Alai to this beer. The cedar and whatever else happened along the way just killed this beer.
