Huge thank you go out to Alex for sharing this awesome bottle at his impromptu tasting once more. It was bottled on 12-28-2009 and shared into my GI Invasion Tasting glass.
A- My initial thoughts were how amazingly carbonated this was for almost a year of aging. It matched perfectly to glasses of cola I've poured in my house. In fact, the body is that inky darkness with ruby hues that is so stereotypical of soft drinks. What is nice to note is the unbelievable off-mocha lacing that I played with by various drinking methods.
S- The first tentative sniff brought me memories of campfires that had gone on the night before. It is faint, but delightfully noticeable. Surrounding this aroma is a medicinal presence. I'm positive it is the astringency of alcohol. Beyond that I found pleasure in an oaky malt character and what could be bourbon.
T- Here was a huge let down for me. The opening is instantly a confusing sweet mess. Its weeded apart to be faintly nutty, strongly caramel, and nothing like the nose. The finish makes up strongly for the other areas of this tasting, picking up for what could have been just an average brew.
M- What a smooth and easy drinker. I was instantly amazed at how little the alcohol affected its drinkability. I would never put it at the 9% it is. It doesn't hang where it isn't wanted. The body is full and velvety.
D- I want another one of these bad boys. I'm sure I could pour myself the entire bomber and never think twice about it or be upset.
