A - Cola brown pour with a black hue. Dark brown foam settles quickly

S - Scents of plum, blackberries, and dark chocolate. Has a hint of dry sherry smell.

T - Rich berry and dried fruit flavor with chocolate notes. Big boozy finish that has a warming burn. As it settled the chocolate notes were stronger.

M - Feels heavy and the finish made htis a sipper for sure. Drink slowlyand enjoy.

O - Interesting but an odd style for CCB. Enjoyable as a small pour.

750ml shared with sideshowe and kubrick215.

Pours a dark brown, almost black color with a 1.5 finger beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Splotchy lacing left behind.

Smokey, roasted malt aroma with coffee bean, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee and toast countered by dark fruit sweetness.  Hints of grape, plum, fig and other dark berries compliment the roasted robust malt character.

Medium bodied but on the fuller end with a nice balance of deeply roasted and sweeter malts with a touch of dark fruit.  Strong dark chocolate presence with toffee, oatmeal, roasted coffee bean and hazelnut.  Smokey and roasted but not over the top burnt or acrid. Well balanced with stout, scotch and brown ale characteristics all coming through.

Ditmier is a trading machine and hopefully, he stays a Boise buddy... 57/204 Very cool amigo.

Pours deep dark brown... pretty clear.. tannish head with good lacing.

The nose is deep caramel and dark toast... hints of toffee... figgy malts.. rich... more than enough barrel presence..

Rich malts... makes me think of a Strong scotch ale... bunches of toasty malts... good caramel and some background black malt... dark fruits... and cocoa... weird.. vanilla and minor sweet cherry... really boozy with warmth.. thick and fruity with plenty of malt.

Great body with a light carbonation..

Overall, I would not peg this one as an "American Strong Ale"... The malts are "Scotch".. but what do I know?

Pretty damn great brew ... How about we get some Cigar City in Boise???

jet black color with only a minimal head that does not stick around too long but what is there is clinging to the sides and nice ans sticky. aroma is warming, lots of boozy notes, vanilla and oak coming through the air very clearly now, really showing off what it can do for sure. a nice and well rounded mix of bourbon, caramel, dark roasted malts, nice hints of toffee, and vanilla and a light brown sugar that seems to pop up in the finish. really nicely blended and a well deserved finish was smooth, silky and full of sweet flavor.

overall a very solid ale.

Bottle graciously shared by beace (thanks Brad!) at a Jackie O's tasting. I didn't catch the bottle number.

This poured a ruddy brown, hazy and translucent, with almost no foam on my pour. It smells aged and maybe a little off, in a slightly soured way. Looking beyond this you can get the scotch ale characteristics, some light smoked malts and caramel, maybe some dark fruits like plums, a bit of bourbon too.

Sweet tasting, and again a little off. More malty than anything else, with some dark fruits adding a little more character. Low carbonation level, and honestly this was less appreciated than I expected. I was very happy to try it, but this isn't among my favorites from Cigar City.

A. Pours hazy brown with orange edges with a nice small tan cap.

S. Caramel, dark fruit sweetness, wood

T. Some smoke, dark fruit sweetnes with figs, wood; the bourbon. Hardly comes through.

M. Fairly thin body with low mouthfeel; very dry.

D. Good, but too dry. The oak really comes through.

Bottle 77/204. Thanks Brad for opening this one up!

Pours nice dark brown thin yellow on the edges. A bit of nice white head around the edges. Smells very bourbon heavy. Buttery vanilla and oak right off the bat. Tastes sweet and bourbon forward. Nice dry roastiness. The malts dry my mouth... Other than that good overall

750ml bottle, waxed, #97/204, 2009. Pours a murky brown with a small creamy light tan head that quickly goes to a thin film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is peaty, smokey malts and a lot of bourboney alcohol with a little dark fruit and vanilla.

The flavor is dark fruits and some sweet caramel, vanilla, and smokey/peaty malts with quite a bit of alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, it's a well made beer. The bourbon is just a bit too much for me. Thanks Solan!

Bottle shared by bmanning--#24/204. Served in a snifter.

Pours a medium brown color and is actually quite hazy. Really thin tan head, though it's fairly persistent with a touch of lacing. The nose is really quite nice with a lot of caramel, toffee, and dark fruits. There is a tad bit of bourbon in the background, though not all that much and it really melds in with the other components. As it warms, even more dark fruits make an appearance.

The taste isn't quite as integrated and the sweetness takes over a bit more. There is still a fairly-strong toffee presence with some dates, though it's not as fruity as the nose. I really can't pick out all that much bourbon. The body is medium and is really quite smooth. The alcohol is not really present at all. Even though it was a bit sweet, I found this to be quite drinkable. Thanks again, Ben.

Pours a muddy light brownish.

Smells of malty dark fruits and barrel overtones; vanilla and bourbon but somewhat subdued.

Tastes of raisins, figs, and dates with a fair bit of malt. There is some bourbon presence but it is not strong or overpowering. A little vanilla adds a touch of light sweetness.

Mouthfeel is smooth and carbonation is on the low side. A slow sipper for sure.

Overall very unmemorable and mundane. Not worth giving up a lot for.

Thanks to Kan for sharing this one.

A - Brown, somewhat muddy looking beer with a small tan head. Little bit of spots on the side. Unfortunately most "strong ales" tend to look a little ugly, this one is no exception.

S - Dark fruits, bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, little oak.

T - Sweet, dark fruits, particularly raisins and sweet figs. Little vanilla and wood, healthy dose of bourbon, brown sugar, and caramel. It's not bad, but tastes like a lot of things I have had like this. If this isn't your style, it's not a noticable beer.

M - Full bodied, lower carbonation, creamy.

D - Not a bad beer, could sip on this slowly and be satisfied, although not something I would drink tons of or seek out.
