A - Poured with a small head of light brown foam on a black body. Little retention but good lace.
S - Nutty with an aroma of peanuts and chocolate. Dark, bittersweet mocha and noticeable oak with dark sugar, caramel and molasses.
T - Bitter, yet sweet chocolate with a nutty, smoky whiskey note. Lots of chocolate and spice notes, particularly cinnamon and allspice. Finishes with moderate malt bitterness and rich, nutty chocolate.
M - Medium thick, oily body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.
D - Nice effect from the whiskey aging. As with the other CC beers aged on cedar, I can't really say that I am getting anything obvious from the cedar, but those flavors could easily get lost in the complexity of this beer. The aroma displays excellent complexity and the whiskey really brings out the nutty depth of the malt in this beer.
