Handbottle. A huge thanks to David (illidurit) for hooking this up at our last tasting for my 1500th rate. Black with a small brown head. Holy crap is there a lot going on in the aroma, but it all works. Spicy chillis, oak, vanilla, bourbon, caramel sweetness, dark fudgey chocolate, all very smooth and harmonious. The flavor is just as good, with lots of rich and creamy chocolate malt flavors under vanilla, bourbon, and spicy peppers lingering through the finish. Full bodied and chewy with obviously low carbonation. A fantastic beer. Both this and Humidor Zhukov's showed us two very creative takes on the imperial stout from cigar city, but this was by far the clear winner. I'm definitely looking forward to the regular version as well. As a post-edit, I have to add that hearing "Invaders" by Iron Maiden as I entered this rating was a very fitting tribute.

A - some say "Motor Oil." Let me specify. Old used diesal truck motor oil is much more accurate. Just an awesome pour.
S- Wow! Big chocolate covered brandy soaked cherries. Roasty malt. Just..wow
T - This beer is an assault on your pallet. Dark but sweet chocolate right up front. Then boom, a shot of brandy. Where the hell did that come from? Then a dark roast coffee with a lick of vanilla cool things down for the heat. Heat is mild and fades in about 30 seconds leaving you begging for the next sip to take this ride all over again.
M - thick, smooth, low carb. *Easy ladies, talking beer* coats pallet and stays after beer continues the journey to the liver. Liver smiles.
O- love it. Feel fortunate that Hal with The Top restaurant, Gainesville (shameless plug) gave me the opportunity to taste this remarkable example of what Fl. Breweries are producing. World class all the way.

Drank at NWIBDU tasting. Thanks!

S - Bourbon, vanilla, light pepper and cinnamon 4.25

T - Caramel, dark fudge, light bourbon sweetness, cinnamon spice but not as much as the cinnamon. Light astringency in the finish where the booze is more prominent than normal 4.5

M - Thick and creamy with light astringency from the whiskey.

O - Good beer with more complexity that the normal Huna. Not as good as the whiskey but the bourbon adds some nice sweetness

750 mL bottle poured into a tumbler.

Appearance - Viscous inky black. Stains the glass. Nice mocha head.

Smell - Still surpringly peppery. Not distinct pepperiness. Chocolate. Light bourbon. Vanilla. Not a ton of barrel.

Taste - Chocolate and then immediately peppery. Alcoholic. Some cinnamon. Lots of chocolate. The bourbon is faint. Some oak in the back.

Mouthfeel - Absurbly thick. Dry and oaky in the finish. Boozy. Extremely slow drinking.

Overall - Gets much more oaky as it warms. No sweetness. Some of the more abrasive characteristics have come out, but all of the complexity of Hunahpu is still there.

750 ml bottle generously shared at the Peg's bottle share on 3/8/13.

A- Pours a dark, viscous black with a nice dark mocha colored head.

S- Excellent aroma, loads of dark chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and oak, the chili and cinnamon flavors are very mild. The barrel-character is really amazing and jumps out of the glass at you.

T- Again, really excellent, all the same traits as in the aroma, with lots of dark chocolate, which is a bit stronger with a moist chocolate cake flavor, vanilla/oak and rich, warm bourbon barrel flavors, as well as some mild chili, cinnamon and roasted grain flavors towards the finish.

M- Full-bodied, with a smooth, pretty sticky but not too thick feel.

O- A world-class beer, the barrel traits complement the base beer very well and the flavors are rich and just delicious, I have nothing but praise for this beer.
