Thanks to urwithdave for the bottle!

Pours a beautiful, clear, amber-orange with a thin, white head that leaves a few patches of lacing behind.

Lots of residual sugar on the nose with fruit sweetness and citrus-laden hops. A little malty. More sweet than hoppy.

Grassy, citrusy hops mixed with papaya and sweet malts. I'm not a huge fan of papaya, but it works quite well in this beer. Very cool.

Smooth, creamy body with lingering bitterness. Medium to light carbonation. This feels great going down.

Overall, this is a cool spin your typical IPA. The papaya is well integrated and really helps this beer stand out. On the sweeter side for an IPA, but delicious none the less. Worth checking out.

On-tap at CCB's Fruit in the Room event

This Jai Alai variant reminds me of less-fresh examples of Jai Alai, when the malt starts to show heavy notes and the hop fades into orange-blossom and pine resin nuances. Apparently the fruit picked up certain sweet elements and toned down or muted some bitter and fruity notes that existed in the base IPA. Other than that, it has pretty similar appearance, feel and drinkability.

Appearance: Generates a massive head that sits atop the clear amber liquid; the retention is excellent and there are plenty of lacing strands left around the pint glass

Smell: Tropical fruits with loads of pith; a combination of both citrus and other elements; hard to pick up the papaya but papaya is not a fruit that is particularly sweet or fragrant

Taste: Hop forward, with citrusy bitterness dominant; by mid-palate, the papaya can be discerned underneath, but I would not have picked it out had it not been clearly identified as an ingredient; clean malt flavors provide a nice backdrop for the tropical flavors

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Glad I found a bottle of this on a recent trip to Miami but as it does have a bit of age on it, I wonder whether the papaya and citrus would have been more vivid in its early days

I split this one with a buddy whom had never had any Cigar City before. We followed it with a Humidor Series Spanish Cedar IPA [I've already rated this from a previous experience]. Needless to say, I think he really enjoyed his Cigar City exposure...

Huge thanks to miamichael2 who sent me up a couple of bottles after I had inquired about the availability and freshness of them recently!

A~orange, somewhat hazy body with a nicely placed layer of head

S~lighter than expected fruit, alongside of an earthy quality; mixed with a blend of tropical hops presence

T~although I was hoping for more fruit to shine through, this was still a tasty beer. Fruit, hops, some malt - a little sweetness, yet very appealing.

M~medium in body, refreshing

O~worth the shot if you get the chance :)

orangish amber (almost like a clear papaya color) with an off-white head that holds very well and leaves proper lace. no bottle date, so after reading other reviewers' comments, i wonder if the hop character has changed and the papaya has come out, but nevertheless... nose is caramel and tropical fruit sweet. papaya and papaya seed are there for sure. wouldn't have to guess. also some floral notes. taste is very sweet with a pretty strong hop bite coming through the sweetness about mid-palate. just as it should be the tropical fruit and papaya are there, and a piney, grapefruitiness comes cutting through. bright flavors, but just a touch muddy and/or muddled. could use a bit more definition, but the flavors are all tasty. medium-full body that is quite chewy for an ipa, and a little bit sticky. touch of heat in the end, as well as a healthy dose of bitter. overall, a decadent florida-all-the-way beer that manages to speak of where it is from. mmm. i wish i was on the beach right now!

A - Pours with one finger of off-white foam on top of a clear, copper colored body. The head settles down quickly and leaves nice, thick lace.

S - Fruity pine hops with notes of pineapple and mango (and papaya I suppose). There is quite a bit of bready malt in the background as well with a hint of caramel.

T - Sweet, biscuit and toffee malt with sharp, citrus hops and moderate bitterness. The hop character becomes more fruity in the middle with pineapple and other tropical fruit character as well as more sweet, cake-like malt. The beer finishes with notes of sweet fruity hops and alcohol as well as moderate bitterness.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a sweet finish.

D - This beer is very similar to the regular Jai Alai, but it seems heavier and sweeter. The papaya is a bit hard to pick out since the base beer is already full of tropical fruit hop notes, but it does seem to add a bit of acidity and fruity sweetness to the finish. The hops aren't quite as sharp as I remember them being from the regular version either and their flavor seems to linger on the palate with the malt much longer than the bitterness does. This almost comes across more like a very sweet DIPA than a standard IPA and the sweetness along with the fruit and the pithy hop flavor makes it seem stronger than it really is. Worth trying, especially if you have had any of the other Jai Alai permutations, but I definitely prefer the white oak version and the straight Jai Alai to this one.

Huge thanks to ericandersnavy for sharing this beer. I love the Jai Alai series and look forward to drinking this beer.

The beer pours and orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the papaya with some bready malt mixed in. I also get a little bit of toffee and caramel with some floral notes mixed in.

The flavor has a lot of papaya and other citrus notes with some bread and toffee malt. The bitterness is fairly low and the flavor is all about the fruit.

Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Big thanks goes out to my boy Jefe73 for sending this one my way! Shared this one with a few people at BASC. Served from bottle into a Duck-Rabbit snifter. Poured a hazy orange-yellow with a half finger off-white head that subsided to minimal amount slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, and passion fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, citrus, citrus hop, earth, passion fruit, and earthy hop. It had a medium feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. This was not my favorite variation of the Jai Alai, but it still wasn't bad by any means. The papaya was hard for me to pick up but it came across as passion fruit on my palate. It wasn't very pronounced in my bottle which was a slight disappointment, but overall the brew was solid. Really glad I got to try this one and to share it with some good friends/BAs while in-line at the BASC release!

A- A medium orange gold color with a white head and even lace.

S- Sweet smell of Papaya even fruitiness with no bold hop notes present at first had to work it's way in.

T- A well balance of hops and papaya. Not sweet like I would expect from the papaya since on the label state unsweetened Papaya but the flavor is still there. Not much of a hop bite but very blended.

M- Semi dry but with very good flavor.

D- Very good IPA. imo I would like it to be a little more sweeter but hey that's why I don't brew.

Cheers..
